MOON RIVER PIANO SOLO ARRANGEMENT

This improvisation would be a good example of what I call a Pan-tonal musical statement. In this tune, I merrily mess around with an eight notes harmonic scale (added minor 7th to a major or minor scale for ex)and an elenventh notes scale in order to produce the chord sequence, which is basically a cycle of fifths (most of the time). In search for new harmonies, my pan-tonal system can help anyone sound like an old-times Jazz pianist (as in the beginning of this exerpt)or create interesting poly-tonality, wether it be the chords themselves or the way they connect together. Since this concept generates hundreds of different scales, chords and harmonic possible progressions, I do not think I will be able to cover it all in my lifetime...!  :)  The idea came to me the day I started studying Barry harris's minor 6th scale concept. After using it, I said to myself: "What if... you could add another note than the sixth, or even add two notes, up to 4 notes, which makes an eleven notes scale? How does it sound chordwise? To me, it's a possible logical explanation that can  make a link between ancient and new harmonic conceptions in western music. It's quite a simple statement as a matter of fact! The more notes you add,the more modern you sound, with lots of polytonality. The less notes you add and you get bebop, Gospel and blues chords.  Having eight notes also enables an easy flow on contrary motion voice leading, as Mr Harris has been so right to teach all these years. Thanks to him and the people that helped him spread the word! :) amen!

This six minutes piece was meant to go with an action-suspense movie that was never made (yet). The intro is slow but the rest of it is very rythmic. I made this with music, as others, using my keyboards, instruments and computer.
