My sincere congratulations to Brunswick, MapleSage, Advocat, and every single person who has developed, worked on, or participated in Fractured for Season One.  The show has been everything and then some.  I really think it has pushed the limit and really raised the bar for VR RP by several orders of magnitude, and I have been routinely impressed by everything from the story and roleplay to the assets and design.

As far as the track - it's one last refinement of everything I made for FT.  Everything has been remixed, some ideas expanded, others summarized for this 10 minute finale.  Finally just went all-out with compression along with EQ and everything I could do for the instruments to make them pop.  I enjoyed the way this came out, and I have very few misgivings on this - could have made the final crescendo longer, but I felt like 10 minutes was exactly as long as I wanted it to be.

And let's be fair...I've got to save a few tricks for Season 2 right?

Fractured Thrones: The Page Turns [Season II Summary]

Episode 1 of my own "Not-a-Podcast" inspired by Lone Complex's vastly more eloquent musings. In which I give a little insight into how I like to run things, and some issues I encounter along the way.

I prefer to keep things shorter, as typing all this dialogue is time consuming and I like the idea of 20 minute condensed topics.

An extended and remixed version of the Gradia theme with mostly trailer vibes. Honestly just had fun with it and tried not to focus too hard on "making a song" and just went with feeling instead. Only struck me at the very end that this is essentially what Hans Zimmer does for most movie tracks insofar as he really might write only a short theme or phrase and then just reiterates and layers it over and over again. Not always, but it's definitely one of his trademarks. Honestly I just went on feel more than anything.

I considered this might shift too wildly from one motif to another, going from "hammering trailer" to "groovy" to "trailer guitar" to "string / choir swells" at the end. If it wasn't obvious, I still could never figure out a conclusive melodic ending. I guess I could, but it never sounded right. Also I probably could have replaced that fucking snare on the quiet parts to be farther away or have more reverb, but given how it was arranged and how the plugins were set up, I didn't care to spend the extra time to unravel it or try to match up a snare from a different plugin or whatever. Was going for something closer to Diablo II Harem's sound, but it's too dry / close. It gets the point across but yeah, unpolished.

A last protip for the 2 people who read these comments all the way through: a reminder to compose at like 25-50% mix volume and save the full volume mixing for the end. While I usually will slap limiters on everything to stop peaking and I will hard roll off most frequencies above like 16khz to save everyone's ears, I just didn't do the same for stuff below about 20hz which is beyond sub range and definitely when going back I just didn't feel it had really done damage until about 3-4 hours into the final mix.

Don't think I did anything permanent because I didn't do it that long, but DEFINITELY reminded me to not fuck around with high response mixing headphones at full volume. While going full blast makes it so much easier to hear detail and tweak the mix, I've already had enough mistakes in my life with that shit to hear tinnitus the rest of my life, lol.
