The Fierce Collective Radio Show is a platform for showcasing the talents of womxn and non-binary DJs and producers, and this radio show aired on International Women's Day!

Fierce resident Thought Criminal is on warm-up duties for the first hour, playing tracks by her favourite womxn and NB producers. 
In the second hour we present an exclusive oldskool techno and hardcore vinyl mix from the legendary Tasha Killer Pussies. It is an absolute belter of a mix!

In 1990 Tasha was one of the first few women to break into the UK dance music scene and make a career out of producing records and DJing in clubs. 
Throughout the 90s Tasha played at clubs, festivals and on radio stations worldwide. She released numerous absolutely bangin techno records and an album called Shake ‘N’ Vac, and her 1997 Radio 1 Essential Mix is an absolute masterpiece!

This set and interview are unique and dear to us. Thought Criminal is an incredibly talented artist. We feel much love and respect for her projects, the Fierce Collective in particular, which we urge you to check. Being seasoned techno lovers and academics who have a background in the health sector also connects us. We thank Thought Criminal for taking the time out of her busy schedule to participate in this project. Her interview reminded us why we deemed it necessary to keep a record of this period. We were moved by the depth and intensity of her report since it speaks to us on many levels. Again, a massive thanks for all your hard work, both within the techno scene and outside of it. Thought Criminal

Thought Criminal is a multi-genre DJ from Aberdeen in Scotland, best known for high-energy vinyl mixes of hard, bouncy rave, industrial, acid, and old school techno. She plays at clubs and parties in Scotland and has featured on live-streams, podcasts and radio shows for collectives all over the world. 
Thought Criminal is resident and co-founder of Aberdeen’s Fierce Collective, a group who support and promote fellow womxn/nb DJs, producers and artists and provide DJ skills workshops. She hosts the two Fierce Collective radio shows, which feature womxn and nb DJs and producers; and organizes the Fierce club nights in Aberdeen, which combine womxn and nb DJs with live art.  She is also a resident at Binary School/Binary Trax, a club night and label showcasing local electronic music producers; and Aphrodite, Aberdeen's queer dance party.  She is proud to be a member of the international female:pressure community.

About this mix
This is a hard acid & industrial techno vinyl mix of music produced by womxn and non-binary artists. Many of the most talented, successful and respected producers in this scene are womxn/nb artists- they make up almost 50% of Thought Criminal's digital hard/acid/industrial music collection. Sadly, there is still a massive gender (and every other system of oppression) bias in the vinyl market. Respect to the labels actively trying to fix that.

Mix Hit Radio 5th Birthday Mix

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Tasha KP (Killer Pussies) started djing in 1990; playing at clubs, festivals and on radio stations worldwide including Megadog and Tresor (Berlin), Heaven at the Garage, Rezerection, Club UK, Womad, Club Code, Lakota, Kiss FM, and an Essential Mix for Radio 1 on 08/06/1997.

She produced an original album packed with quirky samples from everyday life - ‘Shake & Vac’ (1997, Bag Records) and has remixed various tracks, including Dannii Minogue for DMC.

Plays vintage acid house, techno, classics and rare beats from the feline vaults.
