Where is my Father?


As I walk on this path of darkness ahead,
Give me hope,strength
and courage to continue on these footsteps I tread.
Hold me and protect me
as I lovingly say,
“Father, come closer, bless me and give me wisdom this day ”.

Take my hand
raise me and carry me
as I travel this storm ahead.
Fear nor discouragement 
nor hopelessness nor despair do I dread.
As I breathe deeply and pray ,
“Tell me , Father . Where are you today ? 
As I search and realize I have lost my way.”

Shield me
while I walk through the tears that I shed.
Hold me close
and comfort me.
Strong is my Faith.
I fear my last breath is near.
I long for the light as death approaches and is now here.

Confused where to go.
Lost on this path .
As I walk in the footsteps of those who traveled here once before.
Remembering those who were dear.
Now lying nearby here 
in these shallow graves.
Closing my eyes 
realizing  one day , I too will die
Leaving behind these worries and pains with such relief.

As I search to understand 
this never ending struggle .
As I repeat this dream in my head .
A path, loved ones and my Father .
Reunited.
Together and  forever more.
As I long for the true meaning of life 
and what brings tomorrow.

A long time ago,
a memory or just a feeling.
No longer in fear.
my father at my side.
As I softly whisper ,
“Father , you are truly here.
As I love you so.”

Del Carry • No Regrets • English horn and cello

"Missing" is a quiet ballad featuring the double reed English Horn [Cor Anglais] and piano. It's origins were probably somewhere in the middle east. For those who don't know what an English Horn is, i would describe it as an Oboe with a lower range and possibly a fuller sound than the Oboe. It has a round bell on the bottom of the instrument which differentiates it from the Oboe.

Advice

I wrote "Restoration of Hope" in February of 2023 after the pandemic had subsided. The first totally original piece since March 2020. I think the world is sadly in a much worse state now in 2023 and that is what i would like to change for the better. Hence the title of hope.

Before the pandemic i did mostly original compositions but that all dried up starting in 2020. So when life gives you lemons you make lemonade and I did a whole series of Trumpet/piano covers that were at the very least improvised and interpreted. You have likely heard some of them.

I hope you enjoy this as much as i did writing it after such a long creative drought. Thanks you for listening. Headphones or a good stereo is always recommended!
