Classical….with a twist …. maybe? When I wrote this, it made me think of that huge expanse of darkness…. and…. light, above our heads… I’m very lucky to live in a beautiful place where light pollution is low and the skies at night are so amazing to look at….and then… the ‘realisation’ hits you… is it really feasible to think that there’s only us…. a little planet called earth inhabited by such varieties of ‘life’ in its own diverse macrocosm?… I suspect it is unlikely. I wonder what any other intelligent life form would think or for that matter thinks of the things we have done to this amazing planet and of the ‘human’ insatiable appetite for ‘more’. One can only hope that there is a ‘realisation’ for greed to be considered highly undesirable if there is life beyond our own stars.

I was incredibly fortunate to work with some people recently who’s talent is often overlooked by others in society. This collaboration and the wider involvement I had with each one of them individually has been  life enriching. Inspirational people working to stay on track as they make their way in life. I consider myself privileged and fortunate to have been a part of this project.

It took me a while to figure this piece out, but once I got started I was able to imagine going from take off, the initial climb to that point where you find yourself up above the clouds, the sun is shining and it is just incredibly beautiful and peaceful, away from it all, free as a bird in the sky

A bit different to the other music I posted on here. I stuck it down for ‘country’ as a genre, but I’m not 100% sure if this is the correct genre so if you are a country music fan and you disagree then I apologise. But if you like it, then great I’ll be really happy. Sorry about the vocals/ production a mix of not having the best voice or production kit, but at least it’s a flavour of some of the music I write. This track is all about being there, not necessarily physically but no matter what and no matter where we are in this world….. or the next, it’s about letting people know you care.
Again genre wise, if you are a pure country fan and the sound doesn’t meet with your expectations, apologies. Also the vocals and production are not the best, but hopefully good enough for people to enjoy.

‘We must arise’…. arose…following Peter Grimbeek having listened to my music and giving me a confidence boost with some really encouraging comments, which in turn having listened to Peters poetry and music prompted me to ask if he would be interested in doing some collaboration…Peters words set to a piece of my music… Peter didn’t need to, as you will hear if you visit Peters account that he is more than adept at writing both poetry and music, but I’m pleased to say Peter very kindly agreed to do so, the result ‘We Must Arise’….at the Edge of the Horizon’!
Personally I’m really really pleased with the piece, Peters poetry, and his clever ability to deliver the lines so well and his timing, for me, lifts the orchestration taking it to another level. You may have seen Curiad Calon on my account which is the first time I have worked on the spoken word set to music, I was incredibly fortunate to be involved with that project in the same way I am incredibly fortunate that Peter agreed to do this.

The wait…. So…you’re there, the other person is not, but that’s ok….you’re 5 minutes early…. So you wait …. and your thoughts about the person build….and they build ….. only to find that at the end….. you’re still there….waiting….alone.

I'm no eco warrior and Im not really much of a protest song writer and. as far as music writing goes, there have been some very very fine songs written about the environment, this is just my bit of a  contribution...the lyrics are for us all but particularly in light of missed targets, and what appears to be a lack of impetus, it's dedicated to those who make policy, wield political power or put profit first.... it'd be nice to think those who can make the big changes we need in this world might take a listen and renew efforts to save our environment.

I never considered using poetry with my music before the collaboration with the talented Peter Grimbeek, which got me thinking. So I hope you like this, if not it’s Peters fault for putting the idea in my head😆….Because the language of Wales is beautiful and  could even be described as musical, I’d love to hear this narration in Cymraeg…on the off chance that any Welsh speakers would like to work with it…(or for that matter any other linguists out there who would like to interpret this piece), feel free to let me know.
