A paper bag in my hand 
Put it over my mouth and practiced 
breathing in and out

Lungs on fire, 
electricity like lightning in a bottle 
trying to break free 
Oh the severity 

How do you know when the pain is for growth?

Learning as I’m going through my folders
Memories can hit you where it hurts
Like stepping on glass, 
some will leave you with shards
Others will heal you, pull out your thorns 
It all hurts, but in different ways

The pains in my legs taught me 
how to stand for what I believe 
And the aches in my arms told me 
letting go can be a strong thing
