Jessica Ozon (b. 2002) is a composer, pianist, and organist from St. John’s, Newfoundland. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Music at Memorial University where she studies composition with Andrew Staniland and Clark Ross. Her compositions range from choral works to contemporary chamber and electronic pieces, and she seeks to find intersections between a variety of musical languages in her work. Some of her influences include electroacoustic works, choral repertoire, and 20th century classical music. Ultimately, she sees music as a medium to foster both personal expression and interpersonal connection. Outside of her composition work, Jessica is an Organ Scholar at the St. John’s Anglican Cathedral and teaches private piano at Intervals Music Studio. In addition to composing, Jessica hopes to continue performing as a keyboard player and pursue further studies in sound recording, an interest she developed through recording with friends and working as a student assistant at Memorial University.
