Andy Ded was an English artist who was living in Paris in the mid 80's. 

The only trace of his work is this EP called "Summer Nightmares and Lazy Dogs" mixing industrial music with a Post-punk attitude.
Notwithstanding a danceable appeal, the release did not gain access to an audience more attracted by the emerging french Cold Wave scene.

This reissue is accompanied by a mutant Tolouse Low Trax Rework featuring additionals lyrics and vocals. With the help of some friends (Laura Lippie and Gwen Jamois aka Iueke), he adds a deviant Laurie Anderson atmosphere to the original track.

Witches Are Back is an independent artists collective, originated from diverse underground scenes, disconnected from mainstream business' dynamics, with a strong political focus on intersectional transfeminist activism.
The project was born in Rome in 2010 and moved to Berlin in 2015, where magical beings from all over the world have joined the team. In 2020 Witches Are Back gave life to a music label and a radio broadcast.
Focusing on underground artists, the collective creates more sexism free and queer safe spaces to express art in professionally organized events that include performances, exhibitions, concerts and clubbing, releases music, promotes and supports creative talent, giving new impulses to alternative cultures.

The Swedish Rave master and co-curator of the growing label When Disco Goes Wrong, Marten Attling aka Mindbender, is back on his own imprint with a beautiful and well-constructed single. “Living For Today” brings seamlessly together the retro and acid influences of the skilled Stockholm-based producer and the result is a dreamy and melodic 95-BPM Synthwave cut with a stunning bassline, arpeggiated synth layers, and an immoral and obscene amount of acid – Marten’s speciality, by the way.

Owner of a plural sonority that ranges from Trance to Early Rave, House to Techno & beyond, Marten has been an active member of the Swedish underground scene for quite some time. The Cramps - big black witchcraft rock

Andrea Benini (born March 14, 1977), also known as Mop Mop is a musician, music producer and composer from , Cesena, Italy. He has worked in jazz, funk and club music.

Benini began playing guitar at age 10 and he started playing drums at age 14. At the end of 1999, Benini moved to Bologna and he attended the “Discipline dell Arti, della Musica e dell Spettacolo” (DAMS), pursuing the study of African-American music and Contemporary music.

From 2000 to 2003 Benini worked as journalist for the Italian magazine “Percussioni” interviewing musicians like Joey Baron, John Riley, Terry Clarke just to name a few.

As of 2005, his current project is Mop Mop, a funk/afro/jazz mix including musicians Alex Trebo on piano, Pasquale Mirra on vibraphone, Guglielmo Pagnozzi on sax, Bruno Briscik on bass and Danilo Mineo on percussions. Mop Mop debut album “The 11th Pill” was released by Tam Tam Studio in 2005 and later re-released by P-Vine Records for the Japanese market. The first single ”Perfect Day Feat. Jackson Sloan” was released by Dejavu Records in 2006 with a remix of Schema Records artist Gerardo Frisina.

In 2007 “Perfect Day” was selected by Adrian Gibson for “Messin Around 5”, the London Jazz Cafe compilation featuring artists like Nostalgia 77, Mark Murphy, Sleepwalker, Soul Jazz Orchestra just to name a few.

In 2008 Benini has produced Mop Mop’s second album entitled “Kiss oF Kali”, released by the German label Infracom Records in 2009. The album features Down Beat Critics Poll winner Gianluca Petrella on trombone and Alan Farrington on vocals. Infracom Records released Mop Mop’s third album “Ritual Of The Savage” in 2010. The album includes the UK’s singer Baby Sol ( backing vocaling for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Nate James ).

In 2012 Mop Mop achieve the international film business as part of Woody Allen‘s “To Rome With Love” soundtrack with the song ” Three Times Bossa “, composed by Andrea Benini/Alex Trebo and produced by Tam Tam Studio.

Mop Mop music is released by labels like Sony/BMG, Universal, Wagram, Infracom, Freestyle, P-Vine, Rambling and supported by DJs like Gilles Peterson, Toshio Matsuura, Michael Ruetten, Pete Isaac, Simon Harrison just to name a few.
During the last years he has performed in Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Turky, United Kingdom, United States, Russian Federation, appearing in clubs, jazz clubs, theatres, festivals, national radio and television.

Benini has produced three albums and several singles for Mop Mop project and remixed artists like [re:jazz], Bajka, Jazzinvaders, Bahama Soul Club, Valique, Rime.

Benini is actually living and producing his new works in Berlin. His fourth studio album which includes funk legend Fred Wesley on trombone and British poet Anthony Joseph on vocals, is to be released in 2012.

Platform 23 presents the 2nd collection of songs selected from the Alternative Funk series released Vox Man and VP 231 Records.  Originally appearing in 1985 across 1 vinyl and 2 cassette albums these cult collections have long been in collectors (and bootleggers) sights and finally see the first official reissue.    

As with Volume 1 (PLA023) the series covers the weird, wonderful, esoteric, exotic and quirky sound and puts them in a reset context that immediately gives clarity of the original’s curation.  

This volume opens with some DIY electro stealers, first with Dee Nasty’s Orientic Groove, where the early French hip-hop pioneer lays down a battle commence of beats, slapped bass and YMO keys, before the second offering from Scoop! and their rap attack, juxtapositions the past series and leads to label heads Vox Populi! & Man and their continued look at the rudiments of cut up manipulation and scratch techniques.  

The avant rappears with 3M’s percussive marker and legendary Amus Tietchens’ is ever challenging, before Melsjest’s post-punk meets the Weirmar possibly steals the side as Vox Pop spoken outro joins those (micro)dots.   

The cult of Randall Kennedy returns with another garage-fuzz gem.  His stories for wackos’n’weirdos end all too soon and are followed by Liquid Liquid’s Dennis Young, diving deep with Intuition, before Stanalis returns with another winner. Bene Gesserit is a killer and welcome addition, before Kosa return with more industrial clippings and volume 2 heads to the door with Capital Funk’s electro-punk bomb – possibly the series champion – while the slap bass-scratch of California’s Psyclones leads to a music hall end in the homage to mum’s favourite, Chukk.  

What these Volumes again highlight is how the DIY aesthetic of so many independent labels was supplemented and spread via collections of friends, contemporaries and often, literally pen pals, to mail in their offerings that are then picked for wider ears.  While some of these artists have become known, just as many are who and whats, but they sit side-by-side as warranted and often killing the scene of what Axel and co sought to be…the Alternative Funk.

B4. Bene Gesserit - Kidnapping

Amplio Espectro is a Buenos Aires-based label curated by Carolina Stegmayer and Ismael Pinkler, whose entanglement of their names and personal/professional lives gave birth to the duo Carisma. They successfully amassed a true international dream team of collaborators for their forthcoming release: Cornelius Doctor (France), Andrea Paz (Chile), Bryan Kessler (Germany), Aristidez (Peru), Kodemul (Mexico) and Kamila Govorcin (Chile), each one of them taking us on a remix trip adding their hyper-personal touches to two Carisma's tracks: “En tus Sueños” and “Fracciones”.

The track we chose to premiere brings Aristidez delivering a trippy and groovy interpretation of “Fracciones”. The Peruvian artist, who rocked the world with his 2018 release on the almighty Calypso Records, flirts this time with percussive breakbeats and melodic synth layers, providing a cosmic atmosphere, but with his traditional Latin sonority. The result: A curious concoction that enriches the release of the charismatic Argentinian duo.

PREMIERE113 // Carisma - Fracciones (Aristidez Remix)

Artist mostly known to specialists, HLM38 is back with another dub-not-dub signature style.

This time the French producer is dropping three original tracks plus three remixes by likeminded folks who all love to walk the downtempo avenue. What all tunes unite, is a classic floating dub-harmonic, in which the off-beats dance contagiously as tripped-up chords. He continued to refine his craft with an experimental approach to dub and industrial excursions, while constantly keeping the joy of the listener in mind.

For remix duties of his slow jamming sensations he asked French producers "UVB76", founders of the tape-only label "OKVLT", to translate “Hierophant” into a toting trip-hop meets industrial leaning tune. In contrast, Swedish producer "The Idealist" enlarged “Empty Quarter” with infectious claps as well as some sub-bass madness. The last one comes from Glasgow’s finest "Lo Kindre", who runs together with his buddy Mr TC the label Phase Group. He transmuted the gloomy stepper “Dammerung” into an adagio synth-treasure.

“Stranger Than Dub”, an Ep that bring six different atmospheres keeping the original dub flavour alive while synergizing the energy again with slow slamming industrial spheres. Journey music beyond the dancefloor, It's time for Babylon to think about his garden!

JIN 03 EP presents a 4 track EP from Osaka's Ground.  True to his unique soul that's reminiscent of a nomad, traversing the planet, befriending kindred spirits found in humans and various environments, this EP presents 4 pieces of unique grooves that ranges from the more euphoric vibe to both daytime & night time of a winter season surrounding a temple. 

On A side "Osakacid" comes in two versions: A1 original version is a slow motion acidic tripper under the winter street of Osaka city lights. Long Flight Version features Mayuko, 1/2 of ambient, electronica duo Synth Sisters. Her soothing melody on synthesizer layered with Ground's goofy acidic flavor compliments perfectly with each other.

B1 turns to the pure creative side of Ground. "Stone Bridge" is based on a local bridge that connects to a temple nearby his country side home outside of Osaka.  Mystic and minimalistically punchy, this cut digs deep into the soulful side of Ground's ever nomadic approach. B2 comes in a complete shock: Ground's longtime friends in Thailand - Mogambo twists up "Stone Bridge" into a psychedelic, GOA fused floor shaker that takes you to an imaginary zone of raving inside the temple late into early morning.
