Sometimes we get ourselves in situations we feel we can’t get out of. Whether it be a job, something financially, a relationship. We all have had situations where we feel trapped. It’s damaging to your mental health and can really get you in a bad situation. Whatever your story, we can all relate.

This is my story. A situation I got myself into where a relationship had become increasingly toxic. The screw was being turned right in front of my eyes but I feel I couldn’t escape. If I left, what would happen? Would I be able to live with the consequences? How would that make me feel?

So I stayed, afraid of the consequences. But one day I was pushed too far, things got physical. 

Then I realised: your happiness is not my responsibility. What you me is not my responsibility. I can no longer put someone before me as it’s ME who is suffering the consequences. It’s time to look after me and to escape toxicity. 

And that’s what I did. Escaping that situation, although difficult at the time, ended up being the best thing I’ve ever done. I encourage you all to listen, take inspiration and see if you can relate. 

If you have ever been in this sort of situation, being manipulated, or worse, you can leave. You can escape. Put yourself first and do what’s right for you. We only get one life on this planet so let’s make the most of it.

Hope you enjoy the track. It’s actually the first track I’ve ever produced, so the production is a bit iffy and all has been produced through GarageBand. But I wanted to use this platform to tell my story and help inspire others, so hopefully you can see the track for what it is, understand the lyrics and message and can enjoy the listen.

The song is a story of a situation I got myself into where I felt trapped, manipulated and scared of the consequences of escaping. The track re-iterates the message we hear so often nowadays - put YOU first. We are responsible for our own happiness and mental health, not anyone else’s. 

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the track and can relate. I hope it provides some food for thought for you in your own life.
