This project was special to me because I have been amazed by the Hang drum the moment I saw it. When I first saw it the only way to get one was to travel to Switzerland and have one custom made. I never made the journey, now there are many versions and variants of the original Hang Drum so availability is now an option. However , I really want the original and someday I may get one.  

For this song project I used my Akai MPCOne.  I was able to get random Hang Drum tones as a WAV file download from a professional.  I chose tones at random and didn't try purposely to stick to any particular scale.  I then laid the tones out on my MPC pads adjusting volume and editing each tone as needed. Because I can't plat two drums at the same time I created an 8 count repetitive beat I could reactivate as I continued to play live. I did the same thing with a running stream background sound reactivating it constantly while playing so the water never stops running.

While visiting Hawaii  I was able to play with the sounds on the pad which took some time to create melodic patterns worthy of song play.  I sat on a high-rise hotel balcony looking at the city of Hawaii with ocean view in the distance.  

Months went by and I never made nothing of it.  Then a whole year.  I wanted to get back to this project so I forced myself and continued to practice until I composed an entire song .

Once the song was created by practice and repetition I finally had enough to shape this piece together.  

Finally, I practiced because the beat I played too is very rapid and rhythmic and playing live can easily lead to mistake.  

To complete the song I gathered various mountain sound effects and sounds strategically placing them through the sound to create a layered deep and healing experience .
