It is an honor to share the voice and expertise of Dr. Devin Buckley. Dr. Buckley joins the Warriors for an in-depth discussion about feminism and the academic ideology behind the 'pro-sex work' movement in 2022. We also discuss the lack of critical thinking in academia today.

Dr. Buckley teaches at CUNY (The City University of New York) and obtained her Ph.D. from Duke University where she studied literature and philosophy of the British Romantic movement. She also has a science background and has received several awards and honors in both philosophy and neuroscience. Rachel Moran is a brave Warrior. She joins us to share the realities of prostitution. Rachel warns us about the devastating harms that will occur from the proposed full decriminalization of the sex trade happening right now in the United States.

Rachel is the Director of International Policy and Advocacy at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation in Washington, DC. Her work has also been endorsed by Jane Fonda, U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Gloria Steinem, Robin Morgan and many others.

Prior to joining the International Centre on Sexual Exploitation—a division of NCOSE—Rachel founded and led SPACE International—an international organization, formed to give voice to women who have survived the abusive reality of prostitution.

Born to mentally unstable parents, Rachel Moran left home at the age of fourteen. Being homeless, she became prostituted to survive. 

Rachel describes truths and facts about working on the streets and in the brothels. Moran also speaks to the psychological damage that accompanies prostitution and the estrangement from one’s body. At the age of twenty-two, Moran escaped prostitution. She has since become a writer and an abolitionist activist.

Roblox: Dawn Hawkins, CEO of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation Explains  the Dangers

"To solve the global problem of sex trafficking, it is time to hold not only traffickers to account, but also the people who create, enable and perpetuate this problem: sex-buyers.  

Although sex-traffickers enjoy the lion’s share of the global community’s scorn, it is sex-buyers— overwhelmingly men who purchase sexual access to the bodies of women and children —who deserve far more of the outrage and should receive a much larger share of frontline law enforcement’s responses. After all, traffickers may be the ones who pocket the money that is generated from sex trafficking operations, but it is sex-buyers who pay it." 

These are the words of Dr. Marcel van den Watt, Director of the Research Institute at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation in Washington D.C. He is an internationally accoladed investigative and research professional with 20 years’ experience in combating the interspersing criminal economies of organized crime, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation. His cumulative experience as a former human trafficking police investigator, human trafficking case manager, and hostage and suicide negotiator, continues to inform his work. Marcel has consulted in and provided expert court testimony in several sex trafficking cases, briefed members of the US Congress on issues related to online criminality and engaged with both the Presidency and the Multi-Party Women’s Caucus in South Africa’s Parliament on matters related to implicit harms-, myths-, and laws associated with the sex trade.
