We've seen all kinds of styles and flavours from the Obtain Records camp so far, showing both the strength of their roster and the expansive possibilities of drum 'n' bass as a genre. This time round, label boss Piers T has recruited the Bosnian-Norwegian singer D Vibbe for her first ever drum 'n' bass release to take us deep into liquid soul territory.
For those who don't know, Piers has been at the helm of Obtain since its inception, flexing his A&R skills as well as his production talent. And - speaking of production talent – now ten years deep in the game with the last five as a professional mastering engineer, Piers has got that side of things well in hand.
And then there's D Vibbe. Under her given name of Diana, she's featured on an incredible range of house and EDM records, from majors to underground independents, having started out as a soul and jazz artist. With that history, it's no suprise that she brings something special to this EP. She's much more than a featured vocalist. This is a singer who's as integral to the project as the beats and basslines.
Over five tracks, Piers T and D Vibbe lay out their manifesto for soulfully emotive drum 'n' bass music. This is the 'World Wide EP', and it's an essential for selectors and listeners alike.
