@tunnelvisions1 return to their home label @Atomnation for a fourth fantastic release in the last three years. This six track excursion builds on the pair's warm, richly melodic and always hypnotic style with fantastically colourful results.

Tunnelvisions is Emiel van den Dungen and Raynor de Groot. Both artists keep busy with their own solo projects (Milio and Coloray respectively) but continue to find fascinating middle ground when they come together in the studio. 2020 saw them step out on Moscoman's Disco Halal and Solomun's Diynamic, while they have also been remixed to great effect with influential DJs like Dixon and Tale Of Us playing the results. Now, though, they are back on Atomnation with another superb collection of cuts.

The undulating 'Acid Neverland' opens up with its succulent and supple drums overlaid with heavenly chords and glowing pads. Coloray's vocals are then layered in to bring some drive and attitude to this most compelling of tracks. 'King Cobra' is a dubby delight. Its airy hi hats, bulbous bass notes and tripped out melodic motifs all sinking you into a trance.

There is more angst and energy to the malfunctioning melodies and steel-plated drums of 'Mirrored Identities' while 'Waiting For The Morning' is a perfect dreamscape. It's a super widescreen track with deft pads coming in and out of focus, glistening melodies reflecting light and pulsing drums locking you in. 'Private XS' flips the vibe with more drawn out and sinewy synths gurgling and bubbling away as they ride up and down the scale like a slow motion cosmic explosion. Last but not least, 'End of Time' has the most pop hooks and catchy riffs of the lot. They dart about the mix as smeared pads and crunchy, punchy drums encourage you to cut loose.

This is another masterfully cohesive collection of colourful dance floor cuts that take in pop, techno and synth music and skew them the unique lens of Tunnelvisions.

This is another grand storytelling compilation that takes us on a global musical trip.

One of Stockholm’s finest exports, Elfenberg, arrive at Bordello with four slices of synthesizer goodness. The duo open with “Forever Alone”. A cruising arpeggiator steers its way through glistening snares, rolling kicks and classic italo vocals. Night falls in the jungle “Conga Coronation”. The treetops bristle with birdsong, thickets of bongos, toms and rain sticks lead a path to dawning melodies. A wonderfully textured percussive piece, the track is intricately carved and demonstrates the diversity and depth of Elfenberg. The disco dipped futurism of “Sphere Of Missing Out” follows. Echoes of “Conga Coronation” rhythms are countered by beaming synth bars and vocoder lyrics with the Swedish pair pushing for the floor. “Cosmic Tribune” is the curtain close. Astral chords, spiralling key shifts and incising drums coalesce in this space inspired finale. A truly stunning debut from this talented partnership.

David Bowie - Let's Dance (Skelesys Remix)

Younger Than Me are Marcello Carozzi and John Ming, a rising DJ and producer duo from Milan. They teamed up with singer Lara Caprotti for their debut release. The uplifting synth arrangements combined with the soulful voice of Lara results in an ultimate sexy-disco-rave euphoria. Fellow Italians Massimiliano Pagliara and Uabos handled the remixes and and put their sophisticated signature on top. A future club classic, sweet as honey!

Record will be out the 29th of March on Bordello A Parigi.

There are a few folks returning from previous outings with Danny Russell & Ronald Christoph dropping another chopped up disco funk bomb on 'Future's Gonna Get You'. Brian SNR is back with a wicked slo-mo chuggy'n dubby offering on 'Hot Shot' whilst JB Dizzy breaks out the arpeggiators to devastating effect on 'Freak Street'. Gaël De L'lvresse (now just going by De L'lvresse) presents a wicked bass driven infectious romp with 'Field River'.

Elsewhere there are cuts from long-standing friends and members of the Paper family; Joe Morris makes a long awaited return with a great piece of late night smoke and lasers style shenanigans on 'Smoke & Mirrors'. Kooky & Damoon drop more slick disco sounds, From Beyond delivers another cosmic sounding slice of brilliance and Pico takes things all trippy.

From newcomers, we have some jazzy edit vibes from The Secret Soul Society, a classic gets cut up and rearranged by Jahn Solo whilst there's an incredible bit of 80's soul /post disco sounds from Paper Street Soul.

Gerd Janson sends Rheinzand into orbit with this turbocharged remix double. The Running Back label owner and longstanding DJ heavywheight enlists his house music fluency, revving up the disco gleam of ‘Blind’ on its own terms. Charlotte Caluwaerts vocals reverberate through space ray arpeggiators and burnished drum gates in a pulsating play of silver and silk. Janson’s effort here sends our thoughts to gentler times as we imagine it either booming from a preposterous sound system in a sweaty basement or glowing in Mediterranean starlight. Either way, the energy of this one deserves a real dancefloor so let’s hope it gets one soon. ‘Blind’ featured on Rheinzand’s self-titled debut album, which came out in 2019 to high acclaim, named Piccadilly Records’ album of the year. This release, featuring Janson’s ‘Dance’ and ‘Dub’ remixes, comes within a series of remixes of tracks from that album. A few more (including other treatments of ‘Blind’) will follow before we finally compile them all in a remix album, celebrating Rheinzand’s chameleon take on dance music.
