Ballistic Holistics

Y'know, you're a surprising creature.
The product of a billion random chances,
meet-cutes across millennia.
You landed here out of cosmic chaos,
pure happenstance.
You make surprising connections.
Maybe you'll make one tomorrow.
maybe you'll open your door and say "who's there?"

You will laugh at a joke,
because something in it surprised you.
and if a joke can surprise you,
so can a person.
and if a person can surprise you,
so can the world.
and if the world can surprise you,
it's worth seeing more of it.
and in more of the world,
there is more of its people.
and they have more jokes, and so on, and so forth.
And it starts with deciding to lay your worries on the grave of the day, 
a sacrifice made out of hope, 
and forge a path across midnight.

Or, not even midnight, 
sleep is the real submission, 
whenever it comes.
When you let sleep in, you're saying:
"I trust that tomorrow will come, 
and when it does,
I will meet it on its own terms."

Happiness can strike like sickness,
without reason.
