The inspiration for writing this began back in the beginning of 2017.  I was working as a psychiatrist/psychotherapist in my own private practice, when after seeing the Hamilton Musical I was inspired to try and help others by becoming politically engaged.  Given my prior obligations as a doctor Twitter seemed an ideal platform to be able to participate in the political discussion.  Operating under a pseudonym @AHamiltonSpirit I took on the anonymous persona of Alexander Hamilton.   It was not long before I found many others following me and what I said.  By 2018 I had amassed over 75,000 followers including one of America’s  foremost constitutional  scholars, Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe, who followed me based on my research on the systemic Russian Interference in our political system as well as Joy Ann Reid of MSNBC who followed me after posting research on automated Russian Twitter accounts.  Unfortunately my work attracted the attention of other less savory characters as well.  I received death threats on a regular basis and eventually my account was hacked into and my identity exposed.  It was at this point that I decided that as passionate as I was about trying to fix what I saw was wrong with our country, that my safety had to take top priority.
                And so while I abandoned Twitter I could not abandon the passion I had developed for trying to fix what I saw as a broken system; and it was from that passion which an idea was born.  It was a simple idea, if America was set up to be a Platonic republic, you could balance the scales of justice if you could balance its citizens.  It seemed grandiose at first but it occurred to me that it was what I was doing everyday as a therapist on an individual scale, helping people balance themselves by teaching them the principles each needed to lead a happy life.  I also realized that taken together my patients were their own little city, each with different problems and yet I knew how to help each of them.  I considered writing a book, but the problem wasn’t that these principles weren’t out there, the problem was getting people to learn them, and that meant saying things in a way that hadn’t been done before.
                Aristotle Defines rhetoric as the art of convincing people. He divides it into three parts, Logos or logic, pathos or emotion, and ethos or credibility, and everything about Revel Nation was crafted with one of these things in mind.  The music and color wheel are meant to make them easy for anyone to learn and remember. The tone of the lyrics and the variation of Pachobel’s cannon meant to infuse the ideas with the specific emotion needed to be open to learning a particular principle. The characters chosen to establish the right balance of nostalgia, optimism and credibility to inspire people to change. So take a listen, if not for yourself ...then for your children
