Strange Attractors

The Deep Bells is a collaboration between Yellow6 and The Corrupting Sea that has been 20 years in the making. Having met through The Corrupting Sea’s love of Yellow6’s music circa the early 2000’s, Jon (Yellow6) and Jason (TCS) have become fast friends over the course of those years. Liberté is their debut collaboration released on Sound in Silence this coming June 30th.

The core of the album’s ethos lies within the current geopolitical issues impacting much of the world. The cover image emphasizes the crack in the liberty bell found in Philadelphia in the United States. It references the massive divide among humans at any given moment through our history but especially in this current moment. The title, Liberté, is a reference to the French’s ability to revolt against those in power who would take advantage of and target citizens using the government as a cudgel. 

In the background there is also the political climate surrounding Brexit and the fallout, not just for artists in the UK, but also the split it represents between a freely moving populace in Europe and those who see others unlike them as subhuman. The common thread here is the immense divide between those who see an ideal world through the lens of compassion and those who see it through the lens of hate. 

While both Yellow6 and The Corrupting Sea live an ocean apart, they passed tracks over the internet and formed and shaped each composition together. Guitars, synthesizers, VSTs, and a lot of guitar pedals later, Liberté was born of a 20 year friendship, a common worldview, and, in some ways, an idealized DIY punk ethos.

Freedom occurs naturally. Fascism is unnatural and breaks eventually under the weight of its means of control.

The Deep Bells: Liberté will be released on Sound in Silence Records on June 30th, 2025.
