This first endeavor of mine was very personal and fueled by certain events that manifested from various eras in my life revolving around one promise made and the journey to acquire it. The overall story is fueled namely by : growing up as a kid, the day i got my college acceptance letter, the last year i spent as a senior at the University Of New Haven, and part of my grad school career. 

The lyrics are fueled by my experience trying to grow as an individual and be who i am meant to be with the many pressures of world throwing one obstacle after the other. I looked at the world around us that we live in day to day and the battle between ones perception of themselves and where they want to be in life versus the perception of the world and where they ought to be and want in life a lot while writing this ep. Its an album of dreams vs ambition, reality vs actuality, choices, consequences and perspective made relatable by creating a fixed scope centered around college life, internal vs external morals, real stories/lessons i learned from going through it, and the influence of certain moments in life ultimately coming into play when facing life's main obstacle of acquiring and understanding love and how it can make or break who you are based on your reaction/perception of vital moments in life. 

Overall this album is a self-reflection as well as an opinion about one of the most vital time periods in human life. Education and Romance seem to be the two main mitigating factors that shape you into who you and who you will be. Any alterations in perspective or morals revolve around the two and go on to shape children of divorce or the next leader of an enlightenment movement. It was my goal to dive into the semantics that come into play when cultivating ones human potential through displaying every aspect of what made me into the person i am and the path i am taking to the goals i desire. 

The main goal here is to spark the thought in someones mind "that they are the sum of the experiences they make based on choices, consequences, and experience. Ultimately its those moments of metanoia and self-reflection masked behind conflict that allow us to drive forward in life and continue making the vital changes/choices missed or now before us. In order for humanity to grow to its full potential as a species we have to look at these moments through our own eyes and how we feel singularly versus how we were/are taught to feel or ought to think based on societal norms and assimilation of the individual into a liked minded mass or class as we see with much of our population today.

So its no secret i love Spiderman! So when the title track Sunflower dropped for the Miles Morales  cinematic introduction via Into The Spider Verse; i was 100 percent captivated by the visuals and the fact that the song in itself could invoked so many different emotions in the listener. I sought to captivate every emotion i felt via track and lyrics in my rendition  of Burn The Fairytales. When i was at my lowest i stumbled across this song "Particles by Nothing But Thieves"  in the form of Christina Melon's Ukelele Cover with the lyrics displayed on the screen. Without ever hearing the song before i just started recording on my phone and singing the lyrics on the screen until the final segment put me in literal tears. It just resonated with me on such a deeper level from the lyrics, to the emotion, to the message, to the orginal song and its music video which look at the reality of addiction and how it can make one lose their identity. Being someone who has battle with the diseaseover the years ; it kind of became and anthem for me leading up to going into recovery. I lost the phone and the recording so i ended up redoing it as a warm up for The Sunflower Rendition Sessions and this is what came out in one organic heartfelt take. Enjoy!

H.O.P.E. (as an acronym)

When this started out it was a pass time with my cousins to freestyle against each other after every episode of 106 and park on BET. Then they added in writing raps to get an upper hand on me (since i didn't write at age 6 lol) which turned into thousands of notebooks of actually songs versus raps that became my form of therapy for the struggle i faced daily called growing up being human. 

Therapy evolved into countless bands and eps and albums crafted by my passion for music, my need to understand everything in life, a means to keep my promise to a dead friend to save and change the lives of others if not the world, and my desire to pass on the many life lessons i learned from the people i encountered and buried along the way through a form of expression that could transcend time as well as touch the hearts of anyone any where who needed someone to say the right words at the right time. 

Its funny that through rap i became the vocalist (screams and cleans) and the drummer i am today. The instrumentals fueled my itch to construct beats on the drum set and lead me from a set of harry potter books to my first act 6 piece, then to my blue Vere 7 piece. and ultimately to the black Tama 10 piece i named Ryuk and play to this day in a band called Line Don't Cross. The unique method i used to write raps then became the skeletal structure i utilize to this day to write every single song i write, record, and perform. Through attemtpting to write raps i found myself singing the rhymes vs rapping them which lead to my passion for singing. Rap was a gateway to artistry for me and the start of my road to becoming the musician i am now. 

All along the way of my music career i had friends who would ask me to just freestyle on random instrumentals amazed by the way i could blend words into disses for battles, metaphors to stress philosophy, stories to stress the state of the world, or pure nonsense just for a few laughs. I have always claimed that rapping was then and still is a hobby and i am in no way shape or form a rapper i am just good at it! But it's also the main way i've kept my lyricist mind active and flowing to write songs for my many musical endeavors both solo and with bands over the years. It became apparent to me that this is a talent i have slept on and a means to touching the lives of an entire new fan base of people looking for something relatable and real within the genre of their liking. With the encouragement of countless friends, fans, and acquaintances along the way i have finally stopped downplaying this talent of mine and thus crafted the stage name Kid Oblivious VTW (Verse The World) and give you/ as well as them the ep they have been waiting for and the start of many more endeavors in this genre. This is where music, philosophy, life lessons, and hope collide. I hope you can find answers and motivational question that spark you on your path to unlocking your human potential littered across the works that shall be found here. Thank you
