Life In Observation

The ever changing of the ocean waves, building, rushing, crashing, turbulent, and flowing.  Dueling guitars and bass begin, crash into a battle of guitars, organ, and dancing keys.  The song flowing within the movement of an ambient pad.

Alternative, Instrumental -Evokes images of surf, surfing, being on an exciting boat ride, flying, or a car ride along the ocean.  Inspired by music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, rock, funk, alternative, and jazz.  A moderately, mid-tempo song with strong dynamic changes and events.

In Waves

The Heroic takes off, trying to find balance.  A driving baseline flows with the rhythmic electric guitars throughout a grooving journey.  Dynamic drums power the driving bass.  The dual lead guitars work together, as they build.  Intertwining rhythmic keys, pulse, creating transitions, climaxing with an acoustic guitar and piano duet.

The Heroic takes flight, set free, bursting across the sky, surfing the sea, rolling across the Earth.  Led by dual melodic lead guitars.  This song has an aggressive bass line with dynamic drums to match.  Electric keys flowing and pushing through the aggression, and pads giving the song cohesion.

How Time Flies

Feeling the comfort of the cool bathroom floor, a temporary respite after a long night out.  A cymbal crashes into a spacey guitar melody and aggressive soulful funk bass.  A trippy guitar roams and pushes in between quick swelling pads.

Cool Floor Breeze

Pushing, groovin, driven funk rock, moving through space and time.  The electric bass with a synthesized Tron effect, drives a tight funk rock rhythm.  The easy melodic organ playing through the haunting guitar cries, and the dancing synthesized bells adding ripples throughout the song.

The nice side of the mind, and the underlying frustration.  An explosion into a driving rhythm, tunnel vision, dynamic, hot, freeing, sizzling, simmering.  The guitars set the mood, the voices observing from inside, speaking to the mind.  The keys wonder, uplift.  The bass and the drums keep moving the music forward, pushing through.

When she’s done with him.  Stopped looking useful, and became a liability.  Escorted to the cold, realizing he should have done more.  Driving, buzzing keys, bass, and electric guitar, as if bees are moving through a hive.  A pointed lead guitar guiding the song, as the dynamic drums add aggression.  A synth bass puts a hook to the driving build-ups.

The End Of The Drone

Standing adrift on the battlefield of life.  A military sounding, marching snare sporadically plays rolls.  Three melodic electric guitars coming together, bringing on a pondering mood.  Ambient pads transition the song, combining a modern synth bass and dynamic drums, to round out a rhythmic sound, joining the guitars for the second part of the piece.

bFrog®, (Robert P. “Frog” Matthews Jr.), is a multi-instrumentalist/composer. 
He fuses elements of funk, rock, jazz, and electronica.  The music is a creation of imaginative, carefully crafted grooves and movements.  It’s funk rock!  

bFrog’s career is rooted as a professional production sound mixer, spanning 25 years on numerous notable television shows and series.  He has been part of 5 Emmy nominations for “Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series Or Special” for the television show, The Voice, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018. 

June 26, 2017, bFrog® released the instrumental album, Life In Observation, through TuneCore (Distributor and Publisher). 
In 2019, he released Life In Observation: The Cuts Volumes #1-4.  These albums are alternate cutdowns, bumpers, and stingers of songs from the original album for use in multi-media productions.  

Influenced by the likes of Fishbone, Hendrix, Clinton, Dr. Dre, Cobham, Coltrane, Floyd, Zeppelin…  He creates a musical amalgamation from daydreams, eclectic musical taste, maturing through time, discovering life, diverse people, and interesting places in the world. 

The Southern Californian is a visual musician, drawing feeling from picturing and daydreaming to the music.  He works aggressive drums and percussion with technical rhythms and rolling fills, playing tightly with a thick gripping bass.  A group of moving guitars, layered with abstracting keys and electronic sounds, finishes a distinct and unique ensemble of alternative music, Funk Rock.
