Sounds From NoWhere welcomes aboard the scottish dj and producer Deepbass (Soma Records / Informa Records).

Whether doused in the grit of his hometown Glasgow, or expanded by the widescreen vistas of his current base, Barcelona, the music of Darren Roberts has asserted it´s uniqueness within his preferred form of expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and atmosphere. Naming the project Deepbass was a strong statement of intent and commitment to a sound of his own, from the start. 
This consistent path has seen Deepbass put out records on labels such as Edit Select Records, Aconito Records, Dynamic Reflection and Soma, all the while enjoying a steady rise in recognition both with audience and peers. 
What stands out from his production and performances is that Deepbass creates something identifiably his own, but refuses to ever be limited by it or to get comfortable repeating just one thing. Instead, he takes what´s already his own and streamlines it, sharpens it and nuances it. The origin and destination might be constant, but the path it takes and how the journey feels is ever-changing.

[EN] His real name is Filipas Rimkus, based in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania. He started playing almost 10 years ago and most of this journey techno accompanies him. A few years back he became friends with minimal.lt - a crew which is mostly known for Supynes Festival. Since then he is a part of it. Being a part of such organisation and playing at different type of events - from early set times at Monday evening to closing sets at Supynes festival main stage or Boiler Room helped him in finding his own sound. You can hear ambient, downtempo pieces in his sets, then those melancholic, calm melodies go to stronger and faster 4x4 hypnotic, deep techno rhythm with occasional broken beat. And sometimes they’re not going there and just stay melancholic and calm melodies after all. He is also a part of Black Wave team which is mainly in the ambient/hypnotic/deep techno stuff.

[PL] Naprawdę nazywa się Filipas Rimkus, mieszka w Wilnie, stolicy Litwy. Grać zaczął około 10 lat temu i przez większość jego muzycznej przygody towarzyszyła mu muzyka techno. Kilka lat temu zaprzyjaźnił się z ludźmi z minimal.it – ekipy, która najbardziej znana jest z organizacji Supynes Festival. Od tego czasu stał się częścią ich załogi. Bycie częścią takiej organizacji i granie na wielu różnych wydarzeniach – zaczynając od porannych poniedziałkowych setów, przez zamykanie głównej sceny Supynes Festival, po występ w Boiler Roomie, pomogły mu odnaleźć swoje własne brzmienie. Podczas jego występów usłyszycie ambient, downtempo, melancholiczne, spokojne melodie, które potrafią przerodzić się w mocniejsze, szybsze, grane w rytmice 4x4 hipnotyczne, głębokie techno z okazjonalnie połamanym bitem. Czasami zaskakuje i pozostaje wyłącznie wśród melancholicznych i spokojnych brzmień. Jest również częścią Black Wave, teamu, który skupia się na ambientowym, hipnotycznym, głębokim techno.

Sri-Lanka born, Sweden raised, the enigmatic @Kalawila has an affinity for the uncertain, drawing inspiration from unconventional experiences and remote travels.

Through his time in Berlin, he realised techno was a modern way of describing a fundamental feeling dating back to ancient times. He explores this feeling within his DJ sets and productions on the likes of Bossmusik and his own label Mountain Explosion Device, examining textures and the void-like space between spaces.

We are happy to present the first Patterns of Perception mix of 2017 – a forward thinking, uncompromising affair from the immensely talented Swedish artist.

For our One Year celebration at ://aboutblank in Berlin in May 2017, he held us spellbound under the glow of the late-spring sun with this luminescent mix of colours, textures, and sounds.

We are very excited to present the live recording of this set as the latest installation in our mix series.

For the second Inveins birthday, we have picked the label founder of Silent Season, that we always followed with great inspiration for our project.
He's a model for all of us in every sides, musically and humanly.

Jamie McCue is a DJ and label head who lives a quiet life in the forests of British Columbia, Canada. He is the creative director and label head at Silent Season, a music label influenced by his natural surroundings. The sounds of Silent Season grew out of the connection between deep ethereal music and the rain forests of Vancouver Island. A soundtrack to some of the most radiant and aural beauty in the world. Jamie crafts long building sets, allowing the music to become a journey and unfold slowly. His sound explores the deep, psychedelic nature of techno, saturated with atmospheric ambience and dub sensibilities.

Deepbass - HATE Podcast 041

London-born, LA-based Ryan Griffin began @astrangelyisolatedplace a decade ago as a manifestation of his love for collecting and sharing music. The project soon grew into a vinyl label and a community of artists sharing a reverence for a diverse and esoteric range of genres, from ambient to electronica, modern classical to techno. Artists releasing on the label currently include Merrin Karras aka @chymera, Arovane (@arovane-1), Leandro Fresco & Rafael Anton Irisarri (@irisarri), @purl, and @markusguentner.

This atmospheric selection incorporates into A Strangely Isolated Place's signature sound additional elements of the trance and house music genres on which Ryan cut his DJing teeth. An organic approach to selection and mixing ensures a richly layered collage that manages to take some startling turns while remaining effortlessly cohesive throughout.
