"Vers Avant" was composed in March-April 2020, in complete lockdown.
Suddenly, we were hampered, stopped in our tracks, plunged into confusion... But nature was reborn and resplendent.

The situation has not changed much today. But now spring returns, and Akamatsu gets some colours.

Thanks to my housemate and friend Pierre Cherbero for his harmonium, to Juliette Grimont, for the delicate saharan notes, and to Soia for the superb synesthetic illustration!

In the memory of Kaia Mach

"Novembre" was born on the piano, on a dark Sunday of November, in Nantes, from a short guitar motif by my friend composer Jono Heyes (nominated for the Music Awards in New Zealand). 

The same day we've learnt the sudden passing of a friend we had in commom in Czechia : Kaia Mach. As we were creating the piece, he was ever on our minds. Jono recorded subtle variations, between flamenco and Malian music, and finally Nantes-based Suzanne Fischer delivered restrained cello lines.

“November” is a seed sown in a time of deep sadness, which announces other meetings with artists from France and the Czech Republic. These fruitful collaborations are the essence of the upcoming album, “Seminky” ("seeds" in Czech).

Akamatsu is a musical entity created by French Rémi Quéron.
After an appearance on the compilation “Erik Satie et les Nouveaux Jeunes” alongside Rachel Grimes and Nils Frahm, the artist published two albums of melodic and dreamy electronica on the pioneering label Arbouse Recordings, “Infi(ni)me” and “Winter.”
Based in Nantes, Rémi has started a collaboration with artists living in France and the Czech Republic to bring his next album “Seminky” to life, such as drummer Fabrice Bony (Ange), double bassist Petr Tichý (Floex, HLASkontraBAS) or Jono Heyes on guitar (Finalist of the Music Awards in New Zealand). The album takes the form of a luminous mosaic, with rich textures, mixing electronic sounds and orchestral Pop tinged with Classical and Jazz. It will be released in 2024.
