There’s a vibe that permeates the city at night

They will likely have stolen when their walkin’ home
But that’s okay because mom and dad

Before some other kid shook you down on the street
You might feel privileged but you look like meat 
With ribs that break to hungry eyes
You know, the ones that Jesus loves and the ones you despise,
They’re tired of waiting for the hand that lends
And their gonna try and make the entire construct bend

As the schools fall apart and society aches
As the streets fill with tents with people inside
That were born in houses but now live outside
Before they were born they had your support
Now they’re trapped in a life that they cannot abort
So they’ll starve and they’ll freeze in jesus name
While we block the interstates for social media fame
And down will come baby fentanyl
Waiting for the train under the Westgate Mall
That’s got a future as bleak as Pacific Place

But the illusion of power being backed by cash
Can only last until the system has crashed

The system has crashed. If there’s hope, you better act on it, otherwise, all you have is denial. Hope is for the powerless. 

The powerless are the bartenders lamenting about the addicts on the street. Pour me another one, oh Shaman, and tell me about addictive substances. I think I know why you’re a bar wench and not an architect. I think it’s safe to say you’re never going to get that degree. And by the way, even if you do wise up, it isn’t going to stop, because you’re pushing 40 and you’re powerless to stop the reaper that’s knocking at your door every time you smoke a cigarette, unless, of course, your addicted self finds the will power to just put it down. You don’t even have to find a home or a job. You just have to put it down. You just have to put it down. When I see you smoke that cigarette on the street, I see you become the thing you say you hate. Understand? I didn’t think so. 

And that vibe goes on and on, 
until it doesn’t, 
and when it doesn’t, 
it’s because someone decided to stop throwing that vibe. 
Save all that judgment for yourself. 
I see your wheels spinning. 
Those are some expensive wheels you’re spinning.
