What an outstandingly fantastic work. My fave in this 0478 set! Bravo!

I really like the very low end. it gives the piece a cool undulating pulse that you want to nail down, but kinds sounds like wind in your ear when you're falling really fast. great stuff!

A song about climate change and our effect on the planet, its climate and our future. Inspired by a Nature paper about 'the trillionth tonne' of CO2 emissions, this song had/has a working title of 'Sonoma' and was originally about grapes 'withering on the vine'... I didn't realise that 'withering on the vine' is an expression about doing nothing while a problem gets worse and worse, which fits in very well with the subject of climate change.

This song is the 'twin' song of 'Fool' - both songs were written within 48 hours of each other back in May, and both songs were recorded and published online within 24 hours of each other... in August. Both songs were written and played using a bouzouki as opposed to a guitar.

This song Natt wrote as a praise to his fiancé Fanny Assingham, the love of his life. Natt was devastated after Fanny took off with Ginger the tomato surfer, he was not himself for a long time.
In the findings in the Atlas Mountains there were some scribbles about a heart in a hand and some other gibberish.
With a little help from an old friend of Natt back in Swetaxassippi, miss Rossetti, we have managed to recreate the scribbles and the result is this song, Heart in Hand.

For this challenge:
Create a “musical collage,” however you might define it, likely using the equivalent of cut and paste. 

this is what I did:
1- Took and old track provided by my friends at Ethnic Fusion Sound (an Indian Raga with classical instrumentation and voice) kept the Tanpura and Santoor.
2- Took some tracks from and old song of mine, (titled Psyche, unreleased), kept electric bass and drum beats with synthesizers (here hardware old school: Emu Proteus, Emu Vintage Keys and a Korg T3, this was before software vst synths!)
3-Added some orchestral samples from my own collection of CD and vinyl (some usual suspects: Beethoven and Sibelius and a bit of Bach)

This track is part of the Disquiet Junto 478. The assignment was to make a collage that will become part of a larger collage.

I chose 8 random audio files from my iPad Audioshare library and assembled them rhythmically in Ableton Live (shout out to Follow Actions!)

The files include my track from the Disquiet Junto 325 (Fake Book),  experimentation with the Mendeltone and Patterning iPad apps, a recording of a Make Noise O Coast and field recordings from Jordan Lake, NC, Joyce Kilmer Forest, NC, Moral March 2017, Raleigh NC, and my stepson and father-in-law singing Aphex Twin and Mary Robbins respectively in a car somewhere in Texas.

Tape Collage by The Land [disquiet0478]

My 33 1/3 series book about the Aphex Twin album <i>Selected Ambient Works Volume II</i> was published in 2014. The book was one of the top 5 bestselling titles for the calendar year, and in 2015 was ranked by Pitchfork as one of the "33 best" of the 100-plus books in the 33 1/3 series. It has subsequently been translated into Japanese (2019) and Spanish (2018)

Since 2012 I have moderated the Disquiet Junto group, which began on SoundCloud. More at disquiet.com/junto. 

I've written for Nature, Pitchfork, The Wire, Down Beat, Boing Boing, NewMusicBox, Red Bull Music Academy, Art Practical, the website of The Atlantic, and many other publications. 

I've exhibited sound art at galleries in Los Angeles (Crewest), Manhattan (apex art), and Dubai (DUTAC), and I had a audio-visual installation at the San Jose Museum of Art as part of its 45th anniversary.
