The song explores the themes of losing a loved one and dealing with the guilt - in the form of a ghost - and how that affects you moving forward with your life. The line "if a ghost is a wish" comes from one of the main characters in the show, as he says "most of the time, a ghost is a wish", as seeing a loved one in that form is better than never seeing them again.
