“Ah, you might be disappointed then,” Stede says, smiling a little ruefully. It’s a common reaction — Louis referred to beachcombing once as a proper dad hobby, which Stede had been chuffed with for a short period of time before Alma let it slip that this hadn’t been a compliment.
