It just feels a little different when your best friend punches a man into the appetizer table for insulting you and you also know you’ve been in love with him for thirty years. It’s also hard not to feel just a little guilty about the whole thing when you’re on your knees in the bathroom with a first aid kit spilled around you, watching that best friend’s face pinch up in an attempt not to wince when you first take his hand in yours.
