This series is another one of your I really really love. I like that you sang the bits that are incorporated into the  fic! I know your Ed and Stede, know their voices, the intonation of their sentences. So big shoutout to this fic's Jim!

I dunno how i missed this one until you published the note to say its complete. its a great story, shame it won't get its ending, but you did a stellar job with it, as usual.

Stede Bonnet escapes from a world where he’s never felt he fit in into a world where everyone has an animal companion, a daemon - everyone but him, of course, because he wasn't born here. He hears about the dread pirate Blackbeard and his kraken daemon, cursed to live at sea forever, and is fascinated by the legend.

Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, hears about the Gentleman Pirate, who doesn’t have a daemon, and sees an opportunity to escape the life that traps him.

And it's not until they're leaving, an hour later than Stede thought he would be, talked out and yet with so much more to say, and they both grab their coats and they both stand in the street, that he thinks, oh no.

Because Ed is glancing down at Stede's lips, and he's rocking on his feet.

"So…" Ed starts. "I had a great time."

"Me too." That much is true. And now Ed is going to say something about the day not having to end just yet, or invite Stede back to his, or make a move, so Stede takes the reins. Steps forward, plants a dry kiss against the warmth of Ed's cheek, just above where his beard stops. "Safe journey home!" he says brightly, and turns on his heels.
