M.Kat is the instrumental project of songwriter/producer MJ Heck. He uses acoustic instruments, vintage synths, and lofi beats to blend hook driven melodies with grooving rhythms.  

Born in Houston, educated in New York and seasoned in Austin, MJ grew up playing guitar before expanding his musical vocabulary with software instruments and digital production. 

Now living in Tulum, this influence can be heard in the chill beats, tropical vibes, and occasional “bird as percussion” from guest artists like Great Kiskadee, Yucatán Jay and Social Flycatcher.
