Mix 009 is dedicated to a friend I’ve known for years but only got closer during the pandemic. Nelly is a special one. Most can’t handle her raw, unfiltered and authentic self.. but that’s because she’ll hold a mirror in front of you highlighting and confronting what needs to be confronted. Her music taste is someone’s I respect, and her comments towards “bad” music are some of my favorite. 

“Ok, can you play some good music now.” - to whoever is playing/DJing. 

“What are you guys… on a journey to nowhere?” - addressing three friends on the couch chillin lol 

“I’M BORED” - probably the most used quote of hers 

Nelly is important to me cuz she’s one of the ones who confronts me when I play. I know if I have Nelly moving, then I’m playing well. She has that power, and her years of working within the industry has formed her musical taste and ear to be top notch. She’s seen and worked with a lot of DJ’s, and understands the most important job of the DJ is to read the room and the vibe - then play according to that. Whether she knows it or not, Nelly inspires me and makes me grow as a DJ. Aside from all the technical things, like mixing well and having a good track selection, there’s so many little things that need to click in order to sound great. There’s levels to this shit, and I feel as if she helps me level up ⚡️ 

I was honored to play at her birthday party this last Saturday, and I recorded this mix the day after. Quite honestly, the mixing and transition work in this mix is some of the best I’ve recorded. Making it totally Nelly-worthy. 

Happy birthday Nelly! We love you for being you, and we all recognize and acknowledge your dedication to being “nicer” and more vulnerable lol… but don’t ever change how authentic and real you are! Hope y’all enjoy this 2 and a half hour ride 🛸

Notorious N.E.L. Mix 009

Big Bro Peter, 

Mix 010 is dedicated to someone I call Big Bro. Peter was influential in creating and forming my musical palette growing up. Being a few years older than I, he was experienced in the live music, festival, concert going escapades. As a 19-20 year old, this was something I looked up to.  I wanted the good shit, and Peter was the guy that lead me there. 

Peter knew good music. The Sasha n Digweeds, the Hernan Cattaneos, the Richie Hawtins. These types of artists were crucial to someone's musical adolescence because these types of artists would steer you away from the "cheesier" side of dance music. They were/are still legendary, and Peter held my hand and showed the right way. He'd demand we'd see this or that artist, band, or dj. He'd place me right where the sound was the best, and he'd make sure all his loved ones were together experiencing it all together. 

As someone who's always giving, I feel like Peter deserves some spotlight and love for a change. He's big bro to all of us, almost like our protector. Being at live events as a younger party go-er was pretty intimidating. It was almost scary honestly, but Peter was my safe space. Once he was around, I would let out a sigh of relief and feel like nothing can go wrong. In fact, he still has that effect on me 'til this day. Big Bro vibes are strong with him, and I want to remind him we all love him for that.
