Akul, Akul, Akul... Who's Akul...? Asks nobody in Sydney or most of Europe by now. This dude is taking over! We're so here for it. From his almost viral free releases of edits of Gimme Da Weed, and the Round The Twist theme, to a solid back catalogue of tunes on the much respected Extra Spicy and Finespun labels, known for their incredible production quality, Akul is fast becoming a star in the worldwide UKG scene. 
We couldn't be happier to have brought Akul on board for the July party. We set him a task of combining his 2 loves over the course of two hours. Play some UKG, finish on Jungle. What we got was a masterclass in DJing.

All textures are shorn off. It lacks fingerprints. It lacks the raw, unrefined Vitality, joy and Chaos the human creative spirit possesses. 
And although this creativity can be an unruly, oft times ugly process, we must not let conformity squeeze out our humanity.

Is obsession the right word? There is certainly an element of need involved, but is this vital or fabricated?
Is it a nurtured habit? A crutch? or is it something more substantial? 
I don't know, but what is hard to argue is that this need seems inexhaustible. 
The destination always fluid. Horizons shifting. The process often feels like trying to recreate the memory of a scent.  It is an unattainable task that conversely has a validity of its own.

Live recording of my Berlin / Sick Crew debut, April '23 @ Mensch Meier. Amazing crowd, fantastic crew, beautiful venue and surreal organisation.

Bit different from my usual Hardcore stuff (and weirdly no Jungle in it hehe) but definitely one of the sets I'm most proud of to date; despite the time slot which could have been slightly scary! 

Big ups to every producer who provided and keeps providing all the holy gems you'll hear in here.
