The initial effects of a puritans empire 
Are sure to inspire an array of choices
Choices, separating fact from fiction, speech and diction, man from ape

Years of calvinist colonial regime
Can only have one outcome and mean one thing
A Deist God does not wander in creation
Making His son but a fleshy sensation

Docetist or Arian is not what I mean
But a belief that God was somehow both one and the same
Without participation in the realm at hand
Makes more man made god than God made Man

The initial effects of this harmful linking
Was a Christ whose God was the culture’s thinking
And as the culture is capitalist and commercially witty
The product? A Jesus whose acting like a hippie


The next step: its not quite so easy
To search holy writ in this society
Better to work from metaphysical truths 
Than play of game of guessing for a ship for fools

If Christ is one in essence with the Father
Making two in person yet God as one
The Father undivided he can never Change
And The Spirit proceeded from the father and son

An omnipotent ruling God reflects his subjects
Constantine is Emperor but Christ is God
