After having last released a solo project in 2018, on “Win or Die”, crownedYung brings you up to speed by sharing a selection of his experiences since via a sonically widespread 15 songs. 

crownedYung first mentioned the phrase Win or Die” on his song ‘The Shit’ off his first mixtape “DIRTBIN” in 2016 and had since always wanted to release a body of work with the title. He has his versatility on show throughout this offering going from heavy 808s on songs like ‘In & Out’ to spacey Trap Soul soundscapes on songs such as ‘Solo Dolo’ as well as introspective records like ‘Can’t Talk For Me’ & ‘Lord Have Mercy’.

The title “Win or Die” alone paints a picture of the mindset crownedYung is currently in but after listening to this mixtape you realize that there is also a theme of mental health that is not too far down the line from the main message. crownedYung has never hidden his use of drugs and he seems to have it up on a shelf now, for any and everyone to see. The content in these rhymes about week long binges and his seemingly daily use of substances isn’t only in his praise of them but also in their many dangers. In this song we find him opening up about the dark side of excessive intoxication in songs  such as “Higher Than High” where he raps ‘Chug it down fill it up, the drugs are now killing us’. 

The project features guest vocals from Nasty C, Tellaman, Gemini Major, Lastee, Flow Jones Jnr. and Maraza & production from Select Play, Gemini Major, LD Beats, Malo On The Beat, Saak Beats, Sonyezo, Rix Got The Beat, Can’t You Come Over and Zero Dark 20.
