Not the best of days today, 
Bailiff breaking down my door.
Ain’t got no bread to pay
What he was asking for.
Stole my only chair away
It’s why I’m sittin' on the floor.
With all I got to see me right, this statement of arrears,
Half a pack of Marlboro Lights and a busted chandelier.

Maybe time to hit the road
In my baby Buick Six.
Transmission fell out months ago
Standing up on bricks.
Seems every turn I’m knocked down low
By the devil’s dirty tricks.
Now all I got to see me right is a box of shredded gears,
Half a pack of Marlboro Lights and a busted chandelier.

Chicken shack exploded
Feathers coming down for days
My moonshine still was overloaded
Time to mend my ways
Guess I always knowed it,
Life with the demon never pays
Now, all I got to get me through the night is an empty can of beer,
Half a pack of Marlboro Lights and a busted chandelier.

Never meant to shoot my hound,
I was aiming for the wife.
Seems I’m not the hottest shot in town.
Ain’t that the story of my life.
If there’s any bad luck kickin’ ‘round
It’ll head my way tonight.
