Sirens and Prophets is a 5-piece rock band from central Iowa that focuses on recording and showcasing their original music. The membership fundamentally breaks down to two guitars, keyboards, bass and drums, however saxophone and additional keyboard responsibilities get absorbed as needed. S & P also features a dual lead vocal format that developed out of circumstance but has become essential to facilitate their tight harmonies. All five members are seasoned central Iowa musicians with intersecting careers spanning over decades. This line-up started rehearsing in 2019, but the story that lead to this entity started long before that, so let’s meet the band and connect the dots.

Dave Heck- bass and vocals
Jay Brunt- drums and vocals
Chris started writing this material about ten years ago in his home studio for what essentially started as a solo studio project. Although attempts were made to bring this early work to a stage, finding the right personnel proved daunting and forced the project to sideline temporarily. Frank’s zeal for song writing and recording was a necessary catalyst to resurrect the project. Chris and Frank joined up with former band mate Jay about five years ago which is when things moved to the next level. This three-piece core initiated another phase of song writing that gained significant momentum, but Chris was dis-satisfied with some of the lyrics and melodies and approached Randy for help. Randy and Chris had worked together during their college days in a very early project but had somehow lost touch over the years. Bouncing ideas off one another proved to be just what was needed to complete the unfinished material. Randy has played almost continuously with Dave for several decades which led to an obvious solution to the final member issue.
As mentioned earlier, all members have been playing in and around central Iowa for years and a list of associated acts both past and present has been added as a supplement to this introduction. If you have been to a club to hear live music in the area over the past 3 decades, chances are you have seen one of these bands. That being said, Sirens and Prophets is somewhat of a departure from anything these guys have done before, largely due to the all original song list, but at the same time the band is energized by how comfortable and natural this new territory feels.
