What happens when two trained musicians pick up instruments they have no experience with ? What happens when they improvise music ? In approximately 1998 or so a friend of mine and I undertook such an experiment. My father’s violin and my mothers oboe. Neither of us played either. Deb played flute and Karl played guitar. Using a recently built isolation booth at a studio being remodeled, we set up two chairs and put up one condenser microphone. With no pre-planning, and no actual proficiency on either instrument… these were what happened. There are some shining moments. It was a fun time.
