Dan Bau for beginners

The thumb piano was generally played during the walks by travelling griots who not only  keep the history of the tribe or village, but also amuse people with songs, stories, poems, dances, etc. Many players and griot clans have their own special  tunings, whinch can be changed by handling  the length of the metal tines inside or outside. It is also used for playing at religious ceremonies, weddings, and other social gatherings. It is wide spread in the Democratic Republic of Congo and among the Shona people of Zimbabwe.

One of the tracks on "Audicle", produced in 2004 for my BA degree show in Ireland, "Glockenspiel" recalls the tunes that I made up on the piano as a small girl, and the glockenspiel I played at the Fairfield Halls in a primary school concert. Many of the stories in "Audicle" relate to memories. "Glockenspiel" is about all the tiny, sparkly, sad little glinty things in girlhood.

Been blogging, music sharing, etc. for a while now (see blog under this name) & DJing since 1982. I like all kinds of music.

Most of my playlists are not organized & just hold songs I'm interested in, many of which I haven't listened to yet. The "freeform current listening" playlist is as it says & will be updated regularly. Many of my reposts were unintentional, they were just random tracks I was trying to add to a playlist using my phone & I've got clumsy fingers.
