Pass Time (feat. Kofi Stone)

Lizzie again displays her breathtaking vocals that pierce the minimal soundscape with an effortless but powerful grace. Beyond the masterful vocal display and experimental production, the song has a much deeper meaning. The track references the tragic story of Nsala, a father photographed looking at his daughters severed hand and foot after she was murdered by oversears on a rubber plantation for not making his rubber quota in what was then the colonised Belgian Congo. Writing this song challenged Lizzie to remember and to remove layers of desensitisation to the reality of that part of black history. 

Speaking on the track, Lizzie adds: “The song was written and definitely sparked by the death of George Floyd. I was listening to albums such as ‘A Seat At The Table’ (Solange) and ‘Black Gold’ (Nina Simone) and felt inspired to write when I came across the photo of Nsala.
