Hey everyone! It's been a tough couple of months dealing with hate and awful names, and then someone personally texting me saying I’ll never make it big in Utah or I’ll never win a Grammy. I had to pick up my pieces and not let this stop me, so I knew I was gonna become a star someday. So, I used the words that I was called “clown”, “Grifter”, and “Cheat”, and I transformed them into a new song. Enjoy!

Higher was written during one of the lowest seasons of my life. It’s about choosing to look up to heaven even when everything feels dark, heavy, and overwhelming.

Some of my newer followers may not know this, but I live with Non-Verbal Learning Disorder. Growing up, that meant I struggled to understand teasing, sarcasm, and social cues. I often couldn’t tell when someone was joking, and I reacted the wrong way. I got frustrated. I defended myself. Friends came and went. And little by little, I started to feel alone.

From elementary school through junior high and high school, it felt like I was constantly fighting just to belong. Over time, that pain hardened me. I let anger take over. I lost friendships. Eventually, I lost something even bigger I lost my faith. I walked away from the Church and from who I truly was for almost nine years.

After graduating high school, I watched everyone around me leave on missions while I stayed home, feeling stuck and forgotten. That’s when my mom had an idea that quietly changed everything: write Christian music as your mission. I did and I still do to this day.

Earlier this year, after coming home from tour, I hit another low point. I was exhausted, discouraged, and dangerously close to falling back into old habits. Then I remembered Lauren Daigle’s album Look Up Child. That message hit me hard. I realized I needed to lift my head again. To look higher. To look toward heaven instead of my pain.

Higher is my reminder to myself and to anyone listening that even when you feel lost, misunderstood, or alone, God hasn’t left you. One day, we’ll be home again. Until then, we keep looking up.

And to anyone reading this: please don’t be so quick to drop people or cut them off. Some of us are fighting battles you can’t see. We all need support even musicians.
