Corina Cojoaca - Memory Of You

I, Corina Christina Cojoaca, was born amidst a winter storm at the midnight of the 20th November 1993.
Music has always been an important part of my life, as I started taking piano lessons from the early age of 3. Later on, I finished the “George Enescu” National Music College with piano as the main instrument. At present, I am a student at the “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy, with classical vocal and opera coaching as the main subjects. I have also been studying in private the art of composition and orchestration.
I’ve always used to write a lot of lyrics for expressing my feelings, but I never considered about embracing composition until the age of 17, when I started to feel the need of enfolding those lyrics into music.
I knew that the music film and the 20th Century classical music influences will entwine in my music, and, by mere accident, I’ve also found the missing pieces of my view- the heavy guitar and bass riffs, the drum’s double pedal, and the keyboard’s versatility- when an acquaintance showed me a song of a metal band.
I fancied of a dramatic voice for my music, because I strongly believe that a classical trained voice can express the powerful feelings to a much more intense extend. Few years later, my voice started to develop as such, so I decided to sing my own songs.
However, after writing and recording my first song, there came two years when I composed in a very small amount, due to the lack of time for my school obligations. At the age of 19, after finishing the College, I took composition more seriously. Bogdan Voda, an appreciate Romanian composer, initiated me in the art of composition and orchestration.
Since then, I have been writing songs, some of them linked by the concept “Bridge Over Darkness”. Thus, this year I ‘ve recorded 3 songs that represent the first part of the album, entitled after the concept that connected them. “Bridge Over Darkness” encloses 3 chapters, each one of 3 songs: I. Darkness II. Bridge III. Light.
