Moya Simpson is a singer, choir leader and cabaret artist who began life in the UK as a teacher and social worker. She moved to Australia in the late 70s, where she discovered, to her absolute surprise and joy, that she could sing.

Moya Simpson is a singer, choir leader and cabaret artist who began life in the UK as a teacher and social worker. She moved to Australia in the late 70s, where she discovered, to her absolute surprise and joy, that she could sing.

Since then she has immersed herself in traditional world music, with a special love of Eastern Europe, has led two choirs, and run voice  workshops for people who want to find their voice. She has also become one half of a Canberra cabaret called Shortis and Simpson with writer and musician John Shortis. In Canberra they are best known for their political satire. Moya was recently awarded an OAM for her contribution to entertainment and community music.
