It's an indie pop/rock start to this week's list with the jangly guitar pop of Beach Fossils quickly followed by Sea Girls, B Boys and Roya before Ghostpoet's excellent "Immigrant Boogie" (sounding very Mark Lanegan) marks the transition point. Roll the Dice (quite noirish) gives way to the techno sounds of Steve Summers & Bookworms, before heading off to close the list with some World sounds in the shape of Nickodemus (try and clap the rhythm to that one!), the sparse drums and sax grooves of Binker & Moses, and finally closing out with the joyous Balkansambel and "Vrtiglavica" which means dizziness. Pick of the week is Ghostpoet, which just keeps better and better, although I do have a soft spot for Beach Fossils and the mesmerising sounds of Binker & Moses.

introductory music typical for Bulgarian wedding feasts – does, Vrtiglavica also
offers room on the dance floor only for the bravest ones with a calculator in their
hands since the rhytmic structure is very close to an equation with all unknowns.

a ja taka čarna – an Eastern Slovak song – does not need to be introduced to
local listeners. But re-created through the prism of Greek rhythms of levendikos
dance and Bach’s counterpoint, it brings an entirely new experience. Listeners will
either laught or leave.

Čarnica

The title song of the album – šlamastika – uses a compositional technique
inspired by jigsaw puzzles. What is more, this technique is combined with
imaginative play on Black Peter – it cannot be predicted precisely who of musicians
will finish the song as the last.

Fantasy based on themes of old Bulgarian dances called bulgariada has
a special place on this album. It arose in cooperation with Georgi Petkov – the
conductor and artistic director of several ensembles including the world-famous
Bulgarian choir Angelite – who engaged a winsome vocal trio in one of the dances.
It was recorded by great singers of Evridika Trio.

Svadbarsko is a fusion of traditional Balkan melodics and fresh Western discofunky
currents. Moreover, this genre variety is complemented by a little bashful
switch to the world of hard-rock.

Immigrant Boogie

When they come together as Roll the Dice, Swedish producers Peder Mannerfelt and Malcolm Pardon conjure a particularly stirring strain of cinematic sounds.
