After over 100 releases I was planning on taking a break from the label from March but as this Coronavirus pandemic became more and more serious, I really felt like doing something tangible to help. Like many people I am out of work thanks to this crisis and I wanted to do something meaningful and creative with my time. I was getting the same kind of messages from artists both on the label and in the wider Electro/Techno community. Having done large charity release projects before I knew this could be done.”

He added: “I posted on Facebook and approached a few contacts saying I was thinking of doing it and to get in touch if they wanted to get involved. A week later I had over 70 artists up for the challenge. It is a beautiful thing to see so many talented people getting involved, from newcomers to established leaders in the scene like Carl Finlow, John Selway, Detroit’s Filthiest, Dez Williams, and Radioactive Man.”

“As for where the money from the release will go, I chose NHS Charities Together because they represent over 100 NHS charities and will distribute donations amongst them and also have a specific Covid-19 campaign running. Médecins Sans Frontières are the other organisation that will receive profits from the release. I wanted to include one that worked beyond the UK to reflect the international nature of the crisis and the fact that the Electro and Techno communities are global too.”

The darkwave style has influenced later musical genres with its apocalyptic and degraded vision of culture. Its influence has been reflected in different projects, each one taking different forms based on terror, dark sciences or different profiles of secret societies or factual powers. The rawness in the letters and sound textures is the best identifying element of this counter-cultural scene, but it should not always be binding on the industrialist, each project can be nourished by a specific concept to subsequently cement its idelaes.

Solemne Records operates from a visual environment similar to that of a medieval society, which can be perfectly controlled by hidden forces. But their style is not only based on a repressive and dark genre as we might think exploring it at first sight, their style is quite open and mainly based on techno.

This label based in Poland and the UK is run by Cyd, Clefomat and Matt Flack and has just completed its second year of life. To celebrate this anniversary, the platform is repeating the same formula as with the previous one, releasing a massive album by various artists to commemorate the date. 40 artists are collaborating on this release, including its two owners. 

This commemorative album is a good example of the broad style of Solemne Records. Among their 40 tracks we can find raw techno, hypnotic techno, acid techno, sci-fi techno, deep techno, dark techno, industrial, experimental, IDM or abstract, and the most complex thing is that all these genres and subgenres combine perfectly in this release.

2nd Anniversary of Solemne Records is already available, its artwork is a real book handmade. You can listen it and buy it from here, but we present you Underpass, track from Serbian producer Alavux.

Alavux is a highly respected Electro-Techno artist from Serbia, known for his fast-paced,
tenacious sounds and his dedication to representing the underground music scene in Eastern
Europe. For over two decades, Alavux has been a driving force in the industry, leading his E75
crew with passion and commitment. In 2015, Alavux released the highly-acclaimed "Octagon
EP" on Bass Agenda Recordings, which received support from industry heavyweights such as
Dave Clarke. This release solidified his reputation as one of the true Knights of The Roundtable
of music, and gained him notoriety around the world. Alavux's journey into music production
began in the mid-'90s, where he found inspiration in Acid, Techno, and House music. With early
success on his country's national charts with his track "San," Alavux continued to be one of the
heavy supporters of the then nascent "3rd wave" of Electro Bass and Funk music. With a keen
sense for staying ahead of the curve, Alavux has created his own path in the industry. He draws
inspiration from the great pioneers of the past, but chooses to adopt their pioneering spirit and

Hailing from Serbia, Alavux is one of the purveyors of the Electro-Techno sound in his region of Eastern Europe, where together with his E75 crew, our music has been represented with passion and dedication for well over 20 years. Having recently released the massive "Octagon EP" on the infamous Bass Agenda Recordings with support from the likes of Dave Clarke, Alavux continues his quest to annihilate the complacent masses with his unique flavor of fast paced, tenacious Electro sounds that have gained him notoriety all over the world as one of the true Knights of The Roundtable of the music. 

 

Born Goran Alavuk in the city of Belgrade, Serbia, and growing up in a region in many ways removed from the global underground Electro Bass scene, yet no stranger to Electronic music in general, he would eventually find himself gravitating towards the sounds of Mid '90s Acid, Techno and House music; soon enough beginning his own adventure in music production leading to a top 5 spot on his country's national charts with one of his first tracks called "San". Alavuk recalls of his humble beginnings, saying: "I start in '95 on friend's Roland XP 50. Then some experimentations with Fast Tracker 2, and Rebirth 1.5 until '99 when I got my first gear: Roland MC 505, Roland A33 MIDI keyboard and PC (celeron 300 mhz)." 

 

As the new century set in, Alavux continued to be one of the heavy supporters of the then nascent "3rd wave" of Electro Bass and Funk music, though it would be quite some time before he would begin a consistent output of releases, starting off with his signing to legendary Detroit imprint Twilight 76 back in 2008; bringing us "Munze Konza", as well as "E75 Vol. 1" with Kalson, on his collaborative effort with imprint E75. Since then, the artist has enjoyed a plethora of digital releases on labels like Binalog Productions, Toyfriend Music, Vocode, Battery Park Studio, and the list goes on. A busy man without question, and one with a very keen sense for staying ahead of the curve, and without chance of being "put in a box" in regards to any specific style. He is as much a visionary, as much as he is a devout lover of our music and the foundation laid before him by his predecessors. 

 

As for the future, when asked about what he envisions, he replies: "More gear, and of course, more releases!". Which, if his latest monster of a 12" release (his first) on iconic imprint Bass Agenda Recordings is sign of anything, then perhaps it is safe to say that not only is his career maturing gracefully, but he is also getting the respect that he deserves and finally getting his work on vinyl. A veteran of our music in his own right, and an ardent fighter who is helping to spread the sounds of our music to the rest of the world and beyond, Alavux is a machine with no sign of slowing down.
