Remember (CDAS2#24), the French headquarters of the firm 3M was delivered in the new town of Cergy-Pontoise in France in the late 1970s (1976-1978). It was a very finely designed and ingeniously calculated tower, with self-supporting facades, without cladding, designed by the architect Paul Depondt (Phd Harvard 1957), using a steel structure known as Cor-Ten and situated on a vast wooded site, a lung in the heart of the city.
The change of land policy by 3M and the decisions of the city of Cergy condemned the tower to demolition in 2015. The demolition of the tower is completed in 2021. In its place, an operation of 1300 concrete dwellings will be completed in 2024. 
Seduced by Paul Depondt's architecture, sensitive to my thesis work on the subject, resolutely against urban zoning, two pugnacious French architecture students, Duncan Driffort and Antoine Leriche, decide in 2019 to design a manifesto diploma project for the revival of the tower, yet aware that it will eventually be demolished. They are now brilliantly graduated. In this issue of Com d'Archi S2 #69, in English, they introduce themselves, they explain the reasons for their choice and explain their project.

The 14th edition of the International Wood Construction Forum was held in Paris on February 26, 27 and 28 (2025) under the wonderfully refurbished glass roof of the Grand Palais in Paris. All the key players in the French timber industry were present, as were a number of architectural firms, some of which feature in our sound library: Bulle Poirier Justman, AAVP architectes, Petit Didier Prioux Architectes, Ateliers 2/3/4, Erik Giudice Architecture, ArtBuild Architectes, Dream Architecture, Koz Architectes, Calq Architecture, Hemaa Architectes, Atelier Woa. But that's not all. This year's organizers have also chosen a powerful theme: Climate Strategy 2050! In this issue of SPOT, find out more about the fundamentals of this annual meeting, which has become a must-attend event on the road to carbon neutrality in the construction industry.

Déchelette Architecture est une agence qui a moins de dix ans d'existence en 2025 et qui est située dans le 10e arrondissement de Paris. Les recherches de ses deux associés fondateurs, Emmanuelle et Philibert Déchelette visent "à analyser en profondeur chacune des cultures constructives locales, en étroite collaboration avec les acteurs des territoires concernés, afin de revitaliser ce qu’elles ont de meilleur à offrir, en particulier le bon sens et la sobriété des savoir-faire" Ils se distinguent avec deux projets "Casa Franca" à Paris 18e, en structure bois et terre crue d'une part, et "Quatre cheminées", construction de 8 logements sociaux et d’un commerce, structure bois et façade terre à Boulogne d'autre part, deux projets livrés en 2023.
Dans ce numéro de Com d'Archi, Emmanuelle et Philibert, architectes, frère et soeur tombés dans une culture architecturale classique dès l'enfance, déjà bien primés aujourd'hui sur un parcours ancré dans son temps, nous livrent leur histoire singulière puis parlent de leurs projets, de leur pratique, de leur perception de notre monde. De jeunes voix pour un témoignage généreux qui envoie plein de bon signaux pour l'avenir, bien loin des clichés abrutissants qui rongent notre actualité.

Déchelette Architecture is an agency that is less than ten years old in 2025 and is located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. The research of its two founding partners, Emmanuelle and Philibert Déchelette, aims “to analyze in depth each of the local building cultures, in close collaboration with the actors of the territories concerned, in order to revitalize the best they have to offer, in particular the common sense and the sobriety of know-how”. They are distinguished by two projects: “Casa Franca” in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, a wood and raw earth structure, and “Quatre cheminées”, a construction of 8 social housing units and a shop, with a wood structure and earth façade in Boulogne, delivered in 2023.
We talk about these projects in this new issue of Com d'Archi.

Elle livre des informations précieuses sur la conception des intérieurs en matière d'hôtellerie et elle nous révèle les différents domaines d'expertise dans lesquels son agence oeuvre : architecture d'intérieur mais aussi architecture tout court, design, graphisme, pour l'essentiel dans l'univers de l'hospitality.

L'atelier isla met à disposition ses outils d'urbaniste architecte et de maîtrise d'usage pour des clients publics ou privés : aménageurs, collectivités et autres acteurs. Elle contribue activement à maîtriser la conception de ville, celle qui nous parle le mieux, à hauteur des yeux.

Son fondateur, Pierre-Marie Auffret, dans ce numéro de Com d'Archi, nous raconte son histoire et répond à la question suivante, à travers son témoignage : comment la ville se reconstruit sur elle-même aujourd'hui ? Or l'alchimie et l'altérité dans la ville renvoient aux usages, aux usagers, aux mobilités, au partage de l'espace, aux flux, aux acteurs... une complexité à appréhender et à découvrir aujourd'hui.
