A new radioscopy by Leclercq Associés

The emblematic agency Leclercq Associés, after the issues #19 and #20 of Season 2, returns to Com d'Archi for a series of podcasts, with guests and themes of its choice. We open Season 4 of Com d'Archi with the episodes of this series dedicated to Leclercq Associés, and with a new Radioscopie on the subject of transitional urbanism!

Transitional urbanism is a working method implemented by Leclercq Associés on abandoned urban spaces, in partnership with specialists in the field; Mohamed Lofti Belhouari, director of the Urbanism and Landscape department, and Mathilde Adam, from the Leclercq Associés agency, discuss in Com d'Archi with Nicolas Détrie, urban planner and social entrepreneur, pioneer and founder of Yes We Camp, an association which, "in the context of wasteland, vacancy or transitional urbanism, can initiate a partnership protocol that allows these available spaces to become, for a given period of time, an area of possible experimentation and facilitated invention, at the meeting point of a number of ambitions: local production, reception of the most vulnerable, relationship with the living, development of learning, artistic creation, collective achievements. "

In this issue of Com d'Archi, we summarise Mohamed's and Nicolas's testimonies on their respective careers, and then on this method which allows life to be injected into these often striking urban wastelands, before they are transformed by more traditional development methods. Thus two temporalities and two attitudes seem to collide: the short time and agility of transitional urbanism, the long time and monolithism of French urbanism. But in this new post-carbon era, should we not consider urban planning differently, with more porosity between all the elements of the project? And what about the human element in all this? This is the question posed by the two protagonists with the help of examples of projects they have carried out together, notably in Marseille with the Makers and in Paris, on the Bercy-Beaucoup project.

S4#2🇺🇸🇬🇧"Frugal Panache or the urbanism of emergence" with ML Belhouari and N Détrie

The emblematic agency Leclercq Associés, after the issues #19 and #20 of Season 2 that we have just re-broadcast, returns to Com d'Archi for Season 4 for a series of podcasts, with guests and themes of its choice. Today, with this new episode of the series (started in Season 3) dedicated to the Leclercq Associés agency, we put online a focus on the subject of Offsite, a synthesis of the interview published in French with the example of the Avon high school.

Offsite is an industrial and architectural practice which is in vogue today, and of which Pascal Chazal is the worthy French representative. The Leclercq agency is also strongly representative of it. Moreover, it is currently delivering a high school whose boarding school is built off-site (Hors-Site in French) in Avon, in the Ile de France region, a feat of having relied on this practice, which is still in its infancy in France, on the occasion of a public contract.

In this issue of Com d'Archi, you will find, as is customary, the story of the protagonists' careers and the history of the projects. But above all, you will discover the stakes of this practice, which stems from modular construction, and which will undoubtedly make it possible, in the future, to increase quality by significantly reducing construction costs while facing the shortage of manpower. The emblematic agency Leclercq Associés, after the issues #19 and #20 of Season 2 that we have just re-broadcast, returns to Com d'Archi for Season 4 for a series of podcasts, with guests and themes of its choice. Today, with this new episode of the series dedicated to the Leclercq Associés agency, we put online a focus on the subject of the water, a synthesis of the interview published in French with the example of Marseille.

Christian Piel is one of the few pioneers to have worked on water in the city in a hydrological and urbanistic dimension.

In this issue of Com d'Archi, you will find one of the most topical subjects of our time, that of drought and flooding in the city, in the light of the expertise of one of the most eminent French experts in the field: Christian Piel. Mohamed Lotfi Belhouari, Director of the Urban Planning and Landscape Department (with Mathilde Adam), who invited Christian Piel to take part in the podcast, proposes to discuss the most emblematic projects that they are carrying out in partnership and as operational examples.

The subject of solid stone is strongly supported by certain players in the French construction world, not without an unusual commitment, since a solid stone construction does not have the same short-term yield as all-concrete, of course. But solid cut stone guarantees the durability of the building. To build with solid stone, you have to take the time, you have to convince the clients.
Claire Arnaud and Philomène Delrue, young architects specialising in solid stone, tell us in this issue of Com d'Archi about two of their projects built with this technique. A text read by Esther.

The 14th edition of the International Wood Construction Forum was held in Paris on February 26, 27 and 28 (2025) under the wonderfully refurbished glass roof of the Grand Palais in Paris. All the key players in the French timber industry were present, as were a number of architectural firms, some of which feature in our sound library: Bulle Poirier Justman, AAVP architectes, Petit Didier Prioux Architectes, Ateliers 2/3/4, Erik Giudice Architecture, ArtBuild Architectes, Dream Architecture, Koz Architectes, Calq Architecture, Hemaa Architectes, Atelier Woa. But that's not all. This year's organizers have also chosen a powerful theme: Climate Strategy 2050! In this issue of SPOT, find out more about the fundamentals of this annual meeting, which has become a must-attend event on the road to carbon neutrality in the construction industry.

Déchelette Architecture est une agence qui a moins de dix ans d'existence en 2025 et qui est située dans le 10e arrondissement de Paris. Les recherches de ses deux associés fondateurs, Emmanuelle et Philibert Déchelette visent "à analyser en profondeur chacune des cultures constructives locales, en étroite collaboration avec les acteurs des territoires concernés, afin de revitaliser ce qu’elles ont de meilleur à offrir, en particulier le bon sens et la sobriété des savoir-faire" Ils se distinguent avec deux projets "Casa Franca" à Paris 18e, en structure bois et terre crue d'une part, et "Quatre cheminées", construction de 8 logements sociaux et d’un commerce, structure bois et façade terre à Boulogne d'autre part, deux projets livrés en 2023.
Dans ce numéro de Com d'Archi, Emmanuelle et Philibert, architectes, frère et soeur tombés dans une culture architecturale classique dès l'enfance, déjà bien primés aujourd'hui sur un parcours ancré dans son temps, nous livrent leur histoire singulière puis parlent de leurs projets, de leur pratique, de leur perception de notre monde. De jeunes voix pour un témoignage généreux qui envoie plein de bon signaux pour l'avenir, bien loin des clichés abrutissants qui rongent notre actualité.

Déchelette Architecture is an agency that is less than ten years old in 2025 and is located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. The research of its two founding partners, Emmanuelle and Philibert Déchelette, aims “to analyze in depth each of the local building cultures, in close collaboration with the actors of the territories concerned, in order to revitalize the best they have to offer, in particular the common sense and the sobriety of know-how”. They are distinguished by two projects: “Casa Franca” in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, a wood and raw earth structure, and “Quatre cheminées”, a construction of 8 social housing units and a shop, with a wood structure and earth façade in Boulogne, delivered in 2023.
We talk about these projects in this new issue of Com d'Archi.

L'atelier isla met à disposition ses outils d'urbaniste architecte et de maîtrise d'usage pour des clients publics ou privés : aménageurs, collectivités et autres acteurs. Elle contribue activement à maîtriser la conception de ville, celle qui nous parle le mieux, à hauteur des yeux.

Son fondateur, Pierre-Marie Auffret, dans ce numéro de Com d'Archi, nous raconte son histoire et répond à la question suivante, à travers son témoignage : comment la ville se reconstruit sur elle-même aujourd'hui ? Or l'alchimie et l'altérité dans la ville renvoient aux usages, aux usagers, aux mobilités, au partage de l'espace, aux flux, aux acteurs... une complexité à appréhender et à découvrir aujourd'hui.
