Ambient music for galleries - a soundtrack for soundless rooms and other spaces.

"Ambient music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; 
it must be as ignorable as it is interesting.“ (Brian Eno)

Did you realise that in galleries or museums usually there is no music played? 
Those spaces remain quiet because experiencing the art should not be disturbed by any music, so that the senses can be focussed on the visual object only.
I would love to fill this gap with this mix, but of course it is not only meant to be used at an exhibition, it’s a soundtrack for sofa-surfing, space-travel, relaxation, meditation and conversation.

Since the very beginning of my DJ-career i am collecting ambient music in first line for my DJ-sets. 
Especially when playing the opening-set at any event you will always hear me playing a selection of ambient or dub, its like a shamanic ritual for me: 
Blessing the venue with the frequencies and catching people’s mind with warming psychedelic sounds before we all meet on the dance floor.

Enjoy this 4 hour trip which contains masterpieces from over 20 years of collecting music.

It was interesting to get inside the airplane and see everyone coming in and out. When I came to the booth and started my set it was simply magical. For me sound is very important and both the sound system  and the lighting was impeccable which got me completely into the mood.  It was another magical moment for me on the Playa and I hope my music tells this story for everyone that listens to this set!

Solid Steel - the world’s longest running mix series - returns with a special two-hour mix from Ben UFO.

Speaking to us about the mix, Ben said: “This is the set I played at last year's Meakusma Festival. It's been one of my favourite events for the past three years running, and I've programmed a stage at the last two editions. Last summer I was joined by Kara-Lis Coverdale, Jay Glass Dubs and the Timedance crew - Batu, Ploy and Bruce. It's one of the only events I can think of where dance music co-exists with a broad range of experimental music in a way that feels natural, unpretentious and unforced. I love it there, and hopefully that comes across in this recording."

Created in 1988 by Coldcut, and broadcasting on the then pirate radio station Kiss FM, Solid Steel has been releasing mixes for the past 30 years, bringing the weekly shows to an end in December 2018 with a final guest mix from Juan Atkins (the first guest to appear on the show in 1988). Returning for 2019 in a new, more focussed monthly format, continuing Solid Steel’s long history of supporting the best of both established and emerging artists.
