Peter Vriends Quadripart Project ‘Past and Present’

Being one of the first EDM producers from the Netherlands Peter produced some of the most iconic dance tracks ever, after being one of the best discoremixers of the EU together with Ben Liebrand and Peter Slaghuis. Peter’s New Beat Megamix on German label BCM sold over 120.000 copies for instance. Early nineties he successfully started producing music, sometimes solo, sometimes with co-producers. ‘Pot of Gold’ by Chestnut  was one of those floorfillers: the best dance track of 1992, according to famous Dutch music magazine “ OOR” (ear). In 1994 Peter surprised the world again with a solo album. A debut album and the first Dutch EDM album getting an instant release in the United States on Profile Records’ sub label for quality EDM, called Sm:)e Communications. Thanks to creative director Dennis Burkeman (DB) from the label who deeply believed in the album, titled ‘Emotional Travelogue’ and under the artist name Peter Vriends: Quadripart Project. Famous and well-known record labels worldwide released the album -or tracks taken from the album- not much later. UMM in Italy was one of them. US press compared Peter’s music with The Orb and even with Brian Eno, especially after the release of the ‘Follow Your Heart EP’ and the special package of ‘Joy’, back in 1996. ‘Way ahead of its time and still a gem’ we read in a more or less recent customer review from 2019. As quickly Peter was becoming quite famous, with an even faster speed he decided to quite producing music, being fed up with piracy. Mastering became the new challenge. And again the music industry appreciated his talent, awarding him with an Edison (compared to a Grammy) for a great jazz compilation called ‘Deelder Blijft Draaien’. Again a debut: never before a mastering engineer received such a highly appreciated award in The Netherlands. In 2010 Peter decided his long career in the music industry should come to an end by making a choice for his other passion: animals. Since 2010 he is working for the Dutch Humane Society, but still the love for music has never been far away, certainly not in recent days.  2021: more than one year of severe Covidcrisis and finally a way out... and probably the perfect moment to revive the once so fantastic golden decade of dance, with the New Roaring Twenties ahead of us. Quadripart did get some fantastic rework by new talents HP Vince, Pildrin and DJ Vypes. With inclusion of great remastered versions of some of the original rarities, the new album titled ‘Past and Present’ puts Peter Vriends: Quadripart Project back on the map.  And: who could think of a better title than ‘Joy – La Musique des Enfants Joyeux’, thinking of better times soon?
