Oriana Storey has teamed up with the BBC Leeds #MyBradford project to create a radio documentary about the urban music scene in Bradford.

BEATS, BARS AND BRADFORD

Thirty school children from Bradford jumped aboard a "story-telling" train to celebrate World Book Day. BBC Leeds reporter Charles Heslett went to meet some of the pupils and teachers from Girlington Primary School who were there to take this unusual cross-country trip!

WORLD BOOK DAY 2016

The 'Women of the World' festival is coming to Bradford in November. The event, which was born in London's Southbank, has toured the globe and Bradford will be the first location in the North to host it. It's all about celebrating the achievements  and potential of women and girls in the workplace, sports, arts and beyond. Organizer Evie Manning told #MyBradford producer Jenny Eells more about it.


WOW FESTIVAL

A Bradford teenager who was kicked out of school has transformed his life and is starting to take over YouTube.
15 year old Callum Cowans from Holmewood started concentrating on making music six months ago whilst working with alternative education provider All Star Entertainment.
He spoke to BBC Leeds' Liz Green on her Breakfast Show.

A school which teaches some of Bradford's toughest kids has been impressing inspectors. Pupils at the Prism Youth Project in Girlington are work on a city farm to gain skills and qualifications. OFSTED have praised the charity's education methods in helping children who've struggled in mainstream school. BBC Leeds' Jenny Eells met some of those behind the scenes.

PRISM YOUTH PROJECT

The government is bringing in a blanket ban on "psychoactive substances" at the end of May. It will be made illegal to produce, buy or sell any kind of legal highs. 'Steve' talks about his horrific experience of these kind of drugs whilst in prison and if the new legislation will work.  

LEGAL HIGHS

Bradford University is hosting it's first ever International Refugee Festival. The event is to celebrate and support people forced to leave their home in the city. #MyBradford producer Jenny Eells spoke to organiser Samayya Afsal from Bradford University Student's Union. 

BRADFORD'S INTERNATIONAL REFUGEE FESTIVAL

An art exhibition to commemorate the work of the British Indian Army is taking over two of Bradford's biggest landmarks. More than a million fighters from India and Pakistan fought for allied forces in the conflict. Lister Park and City Park are hosting "Garden within a Garden" - created by award winning artist Imran Qureshi.
It's been commissioned as part of a collaboration between the council, the Yorkshire Festival and First World War centenary event programme. #MyBradford producer Jenny Eells spoke to curator Nilesh Mistry.

WW1 ART EXHIBITION

A new project is being launched to help teenagers in Bradford break into the music industry.
The Sound of Bradford - run by a social enterprise called the Piece Project - is designed to train people up in areas including management, production, PR and performance.

DRUNKEN FILM FESTIVAL

There is a 1 in 3 million chance of being struck by lightning. Tony Mais and his wife Shanaz from Bradford were on a beach in Jamaica last month - when an unexpected 50 to 60 THOUSAND VOLT bolt travelled through his body. Tony has suffered burns, internal injuries and is having difficulty walking. Tony and Shanaz talk to BBC Leeds' Richard Stead about their terrifying ordeal.

BRADFORD MAN HIT BY LIGHTNING

Jenny Eells speaks to stock car racing champions Frankie Wainman Jnr and his daughter Phoebe. The pair "did the double" and claimed British titles on the same night!
