Widukind's forces are driven up higher north with every battle. The Franks are relentless in their pursuit. Widukind decides to ask his father in law, a Viking Jarl and Geva's father, for help. He has been in his court before, so we can assume they are on good terms.
Still, one does not make such a journey when it is not needed. Perhaps he was beginning to feel worried. 
He must have had hope that the help he needed so desperately would be granted to him by his family when he set out for the journey North. This song is about the desperation and the hope that maybe things would work out.
Sadly, the Viking Jarl declined the request once he got there. The Franks never got close enough to the Danish borders for the Jarl to take action.
That can't have been anything but a major dissapointment for Widukind, especially in a time when marriages were made to secure land and help when needed.

I compose and record music to stories, legends and myths. I have always been captured and inspired by stories about knights, dragons and magic with a deep love for my own Saxon heritage and history.
I have a small music studio at home where i try to translate my favourite legends, myths and stories to music. 
I am self taught and compose, play, record, mix and master everything myself. The art for my albums and my logo is my own work as well.
