Hollow Knight: Silksong - Lace (Cover)

I trained a neural net to output eight-bar musical hooks and decided to turn one of them into a full-length pop EDM song.

The melody during the EDM drop is a slightly modified version of an actual hook generated by my neural net. The raw output from the code is featured at the end of the song. The verse melody is partly inspired by an intermediate stage during the development of my model in which choosing a softmax temperature that was too low resulted in the model outputting an overly repetitive string of tonic C notes. It turns out this sort of monotone melody fits reasonably well for the genre.

Special thanks to Claudia Humphrey '22 for lending her outstanding voice for this track! Her vocal talent vastly outshines my painfully mediocre songwriting abilities.
