This track was part of a larger experimental collaboration that ended up being its own little song idea. Josh brought the awesome slide guitar, keys, and organ to really liven up this idea. This song began with an acoustic guitar idea I recorded at the beginning of last summer. I passed it along to Josh, who added the piano and slide parts. Then I got it back and added the rhythm section of bass and drums, along with some electric accents. It's been a few months since we've released a collaboration together, not by choice, but because of our busy lives. We have been working on this one for about half a year, trying to add and cut other elements into it. We ended up deciding to put out a simpler version, which is what you hear here. It's been a long time coming, and is our final offering of 2023. It's been a great year of sharing music with all of you out there in SoundCloud land. I appreciate all of your ears, support, and sharing of your talents. We hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as we enjoyed making it. Happy new year 2024!

P.S. I'm adding a version with vocals that we weren't 100% sure about but I think it's worth having two versions up. The foundation of the musical idea is there already.

This is a song that I wrote and shared with Josh last spring. We worked on it for several months. Originally, it was just acoustic guitar and some vocals. To that, Josh added some mandolin, thinking it would stay that way. However, I ruminated on the initial raw version, surprising Josh by adding the rhythm section and better recordings of my parts after the fact. Josh came up with the high harmony towards the end, which blew me away and was the catalyst for a vision to flesh this idea out as best we could. We always have a lot of fun playing together as our tastes and references are very much aligned. We have been making music together almost since we both joined SoundCloud and found each other there about two years ago. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed making it.
As a side personal note, I only wish we had extended the song, which maybe I can get Josh in on that idea. I do like the short and sweet version that leaves you wanting to hear more, but I digress.

This song began as an idea that Chris came up with on his acoustic guitar, and shared with Josh. Josh, loving everything that Chris writes, jumped at the opportunity to work on it. 
  Josh first added the melodic lap steel you hear throughout. Then, in the same session, came up with and recorded the mandolin track. He believes Rick Rubin's mantra, when it's flowing, keep it going. This song was the first of about half a dozen that Chris shared with the Eclectic Collective back at the beginning of summer. So, it sat dormant for about five months, until Chris revived it by adding the impressive rhythm section of bass and drums to complete it. Chirs is always a multi talented part of the team. 
  When it was all in the can, we asked Stephen to mix it for us, because his mixes are always so pro sounding. He also mastered it for us, too. 
  This is the fist song that Chris and Josh have recorded as a duo in almost a year. However, they love recording together and feel this is a great way to start the New Year with some magical music. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
