The Passage Of Time

I began writing this piece a while ago back in 2022 and I finally got around to perfecting it and making a finished product. The piece reflects a thunderous landscape right from the beginning of the music, with the low rumble of thunder which swells and grows as the piece goes on. The contrasting section later in the piece has quite a different mood and style, it is meant to reflect a pause in between the storm, a moment of relief and safety before the thunder returns once more. I enjoy writing dramatic piano pieces and this one has a nice variety of different moods and this piece has been a great piece of music to compose!

Pianiste, accompagnateur, pédagogue Jean-François Basteau sait explorer par son talent le vaste territoire musical.

Après avoir effectué ses études au Conservatoire National de Région de Nancy, il obtient en 1979 sa Médaille d’Or en piano; en 1981, le Prix Inter-Régional de Piano à Strasbourg et en 1983, un Diplôme Supérieur d’Enseignement à l’école Normale de Musique de Paris. Titulaire du Certificat d’Aptitude, il a enseigné le piano ainsi que l’accompagnement depuis 1984 au Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental Edgar Varèse de Mâcon

Parallèlement à son activité de pédagogue, Jean-François Basteau poursuit une carrière de soliste en orchestre, récital et en formation de musique de chambre. Il participe également en tant qu’accompagnateur à de nombreux festivals et concours internationaux tel que le concours de chant « Les Symphonies d’Automne » à Mâcon.

Par ailleurs, il consacre beaucoup de temps à la composition et a déjà signé plus de 200 oeuvres écrites pour des formations instrumentales variées, éditées aux éditions Henry Lemoine et Da Camera.
